Olson, of New Braunfels recently received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Texas Lutheran College in Seguin. Melissa K. Moss, of New Braunfels also received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from TLC. She graduated ’ magna cum laude. TLC, recently named again as “One of America’s Best Col- Moss leges” by U.S. News and World Report magazine, offers degrees in 23 academic disciplines and IO pre-professional programs. With an enrollment of more than 1,200 students at its Seguin and Randolph Air Force Base campuses, Texas Lutheran is celebrating its centennial in 1991. • •• Eleanor A. Morales of New Braunfels recently was awarded a certificate of achievement by the Department of the Army. “Mrs. Morales’ consistent dedication to duty and keen awareness of Army logistics requirements enabled complete logistics support for 20 active, reserve and National Guard units that mobilized and deployed during Operation Desert Storm/Shield,” read the certificate presented by Col. Kenneth C. Sever.' Mrs. Morales, an employee at Fort Sam Houston, is the daughter of Bessie Alvarez of New Braunfels. She has three children, Mark, Elsa and Velma. ••• David J. Wissman, Air National Guard Airman First Class, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. During the six weeks of training the airman studied Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Wissman is the son of George B. Wissman of San Antonio and Dorothy L. Gamer of New Braunfels. He is a 1974 graduate of Canyon High School. Subjects covered included electrical, fundamentals, Electronic components, power supplies, IV| A solid-state elcc- | w tronics and com-P u t e r fundamentals.    Quinn He is the son of Joseph C. Quinn of New Braunfels. He is a 19f>9 graduate of Smithson Valley High School. ••• Rhett Hubertus recently attended Winner’s Day at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston. As winner of a special award from NASA at the Alamo Regional Science Fair for his project, “Wind Tunnel Comparison of Aerodynamics," he along with other winners from Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico received a day long bchind-the-scene tour of NASA and a presentation on astronaut training. Rhett will be a seventh grader at Canyon Middle School this year. The recipient of another special award at the Alamo Regional Science Fair from the U.S. Metric Association for the best use of metrics in a project was Wayne Kraft. Students receiving a Director’s Award at Canyon Middle School included Rhett Hubertus, Wayne Kraft, Deborah Linnartz, Jennie Stewart, Lisa Parra and Gregory Nollkamper. Recognized for Honorable Mention was Brianna McMyllen. Three students from Canyon High School received awards. They were, Garrett Newman, who won the NASA Aerodynamic Special Award and Matthew Flume and Neal Linnartz, who won the Chairman’s Award. ••• Life Scout Devin Koehler from Troop 381 in New Braunfels recently completed his Eagle Service P’ojcct. The project was to build two J jrple martin bird houses for the olympic and spring-fed pool areas at Landa Park. He was assisted in the project by Boy Scouts, Kris Buechc, dreg Nollkamper, Brian German, Jeff Mom ss, Cliff Gallagher, Shawn Clennan, Tim Stecno and John Toeller. ••• Jaye Garza, son of Peter and Joan-nic Garza; Berenice Morales, daughter of Steve and Mary Lou Vasqucz; and Albert Ozuna, son of Juan and Mary Ozuna will join more than 260 top Hispanic high school sophomores at a week-long workshop aimed at enhancing their leadership qualities. The Ninth Annual Texas Lorenzo dc Zavala Youth Legislative Session is slated for July 28-Aug. 4 at Southwestern University in Georgetown.
