New state regulations mandate a change in required immunications for students in Comal ISD, as well as those in all public schools, private schools and child-care facilities.. On June 30, 1990 the Texas Board of Health adopted the amended immunization requirements which stipulate that all students who turn 12 years of age on or after Sept. 1,1990 must have a second measles immunization or evidence of measles immunity prior to their 12th birthday.
Proof of this immunization must be
provided for all students who are 12 years old.
Other required immunizations are:
Polio - Three doses for all students, with at least one dose after the fourth birthday;
Diphtheria-tetanus - Three doses for all students, with at least one dose after the fourth birthday and at least one dose within the past IO years;
Measles - Two doses of vaccine, adm inistcrcd at least 30 days apart, arc

Rubella or mumps - Vaccine is required for all students on or after the first birthday. A physician’s validated history of measles, rubella or mumps illness with a serologic confirmation of immunity will be accepted.

Candidates running for the New Braunfels Independent School District board of trustees will participate in a forum 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 30 at The Education Center, 430 W. Mill St.
The forum will be hosted by the New Braunfels chapters of the Texas State Teachers Association and the Texas Association of Professional Educators. Dan Garcia, com sinner reporter for KMOL television, will be the moderator.
There are three trustee positions to be filled during the Aug. IO election. Two positions are at-large, while the third represents District I. Running for at-large positions are incumbents Bob Self and Arlon Hermes. Also running at-large are Leo Chaffin, Peter Olsen and Felix Roque Jr. For the District I position, incumbent Aguinaldo “Nayo” Zamorc is running unopposed.
After an opening statement, the candidates will respond to four identical questions. Questions from the audience and the press will then be accepted. The session is expected to last an hour and a half.
Absentee voting begins Monday for the special clccuon being conducted by the Comal County Education District on throe issues regarding taxation exemptions and personal property taxation. Absentee voting ends Aug. 6.
The Comal County Education District is an entity created by Comal and New Braunfels school districts as mandated by the State of Texas in its effort to equalize school funding.
