Sagebiel, in October, accepted the re-drawn map and drew up the election order. McQueeney incorporation leaders began their drive in June after noticing the aggressive annexation coming toward the area from both Seguin and New Braunfels. In September, New Braunfels annexed two-mile fingers out FM 725 and Texas 46 toward McQueeney. Seguin, in October, annexed four parcels of land west and north of its city limits and on Jan. I, annexed one-mile fingers near FM 78, FM 464, and Texas 46. "We’ve got our work cut out for us,” said McQueeney resident Robert Ray, who is on the steering committee. “We’ve got a short time and a lot to do. We’ve gone into triple overdrive. This is our last shot.” Ray said McQueeney residents have been quiet about the election, "But Seguin’s not been quiet. They’re banking on its losing and they’re working not so covertly for it to lose.” He added that Seguin is reaching out for McQueeney in an effort to broaden Sfeguin’s tax base. “They’re hell-bent for leather to get McQueeney,” Ray said. "It’s not to stop New Braunfels, it’s to get McQueeney, but on the surface, they say it’s to protect against fen- See McQueeney, Page 16A r JANUARYCLEARANCE TERRIFIC YEAR END SAVINGS THROUGHOUT THE EF TIRE STORE J 50% OFF JUNIOR & MISSES COORDINATES & RELATED SPORTSWEAR SEPARATES Large Selection of Fall & Winter Items Reduced to Clear' 50% OFF ENTIRE STOCK WOMENS FASHION BOOTS Large Selection of Styles and Colors 50% OFF Reg. 50 OO 175 OO MENS FALL SP0RTSC0ATS Large Group of Mens Fall Sportscoats Drastically Reduced1 14.99 Reg 26 OO MEN S VELOURS Selection includes solids and stripes in V-neck and knit collar styles Cotton/poly blends Assorted colors S M, LM XL 30% OFF ENTIRE STOCK MISSES/JUNIOR WINTERWEIGHT SLEEPWEAR Assortment of prints and solids with embroidery and lace trims 100% brushed nylone or acetate/nylon In misses S.
