January 10.1992Sports Bulletins Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship AU boys and girls ages 10-14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 1993 Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Championship. The local competition will be held Jan. 23 at 9 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Gymnasium. 198 West Bridge St The International Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually by the K of C with winners progressing through local, district and state level Competition. Participants will be required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent For entry forms or additional information contact Charles Hohensee al 620-6407. Exercise Class It's never too late to start an exercise class. New Year's resolutions should include time to exercise. Meet with us at the Senior Center Mondays and Fridays at 9:45-10:45 a.m. Flexibility, toning and low impact cardiovascular activity is stressed. Anyone is welcome to come. For more information call Patty at 629-5627. New Braunfels Dart Organization The New Braunfels Dart Organization will have an organizational meeting to prepare for their winier 1993 league. The meeting will be Jan. 12 at teh Wholesale Beers meeting room at 7:30 p.m. All members are urged to attend and anyone else interested in playing. New Braunfels Little League Registration Registration for aB categories of play for New Braunfels Little League will be held per the following; January 19 and 26 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Seele School Cafeteria on 340 Howard St Catagories of play include Co-ed Tee Baseball (6-7-year-olds), Pee-Wee through Minor-Major League Baseball (8-12-year-old for American and National Leagues), Junior League (13-year-olds) and Senior League (14-13-year-olds). League age is players age as of July 31, 1993. A birth certificate and registration fee will be required. Sign up for managers, coaches, umpires and other help will also be available. Flyers and registration forms will be distributed to area schools prior to the I9tft. New Braunfels Junior Golf Association The New Braunfels Junior Golf Association will hold its first registration for all interested junior golfers on Saturday, Jan. 16. and again on Saturday, Jan. 23 from 1-4 p.m. al the Lamia Park Golf Course in the meeting room. Junior golfers from 7-17 arc eligible to register and the registration fee will be S3. For further information call 620-1952 or 629-1996. Interval Training Aerobics Interval training aerobics will soon be offered at the Senior Citizens Center under the direction of Deborah Simpson. The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15 to 7:15 starting Jan. 19. Interval training aerobics is a low and high impact aerobics with light weights workout. All adult ages and fitness levels are welcome. For more information on interval training aerobics classes call Deborah Simpson at 629-3551. Elks’ Hoop Shoot It's not too early to start thinking about the Elks' 21st Annual Hoop Shoot. The Hoop Shoot is for all children ages 8-13. Children should contact gym coaches for all information. The Hoop Shoot will be held in January. Tho Gift of Golf The Texas Golf Card makes a good holiday gift and also helps the American Cancer Society fight cancer. The Texas Golf Card entitles the bearer to free or discounted greens at golf courses around the state. For $25, golfers get a ticket to 90 courses throughout Texas — from the Winkler County Golf Course to Bear Creek Golf World in Houston. For every dollar contributed to the American Cancer Society, 28 cents go toward research; another 21 cents helps fund the Society's efforts to educate the public about cancer and its prevention; and 16 cents pay for programs to help out cancer patients. Most of the remainder pays for other services and programs, while only 2 cents funds overhead costs. Excreta Clast It's never too late to star) an excercise class. End up the year by getting toned up and feeling fine exercising at the Senior Center. There is a class on Mondays and Fridays from 9:45-10:43 a.m. All ages are welcome. For more information call Patty at 629-5627. Tennis Program John Newcombe’s Tennis Ranch will host a tennis program for junior players ages 3-6 and 7-14 to learn the basics of tennis. Program is one hour, twice a week. For more information call Bobby or Stephen at 625-9105. Wstsrworks Aerobic Classes This is a self-paced aerobic workout done in the water to music. Classes are open to all ages 15 and up. Classes will meet at the Senior Citizen Center on Landa Street on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. Cost is $3 per class or $30 per month. Aerobics and Step Cleeses First Baptist Church is offering aerobics and step classes to contemporary Christian music Monday through Friday. A nursery is available for children. Spring Tennis Lessons The Parks and Rec Department is now offering Spring tennis lessons, after school for children and weekdays for adults. Group and private lessons available. Heartbeat aerobics The New Braunfels Parks & Recreation Department is offering an ongoing Heartbeat Aerobics class, taught by Christy Sharum on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Terry Burnette will teach the Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning workouts. This challenging workout includes 35 minutes of aerobics dancing and 45 minutes of strengthening and toning exercises. Low-impact moves are demonstrated. Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Landa Recreation Center from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The fee is $2 per class, monthly fees SI5 for twice a week, $20 for three times per week and $30 for unlimited classes. Seguing Blue Norther' Duathlon On Sunday, March 7, 1993, Texas Lutheran College will host Seguing Second Blue Norther Duathlon. All proceeds from this event will go to the Christian Cupboard, whose mission is to feed the needy. The race will consist of a 3.1-mile run, a 14-mile bike ride and another 3.1-mile run. The race will start at 8 a.m. and preregistration will be $25 for individuals and $45 for team. Late registration will be $35 and $55. Each entry must be accompanied by a can of food. Packet pickup and late registration will take place March 6, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m at Texas Lutheran College. For more information call race director Eva Tannchil at 379-7232. Golf For* Sight igi Gc The 1992-93 Golf Fore Sight cards are now for sale, benefitting the Texas Society to Prevent Blindness. The non-profit organization is selling the cards for $35 for the San Antonio Can! and $25 for the South Texas Card with proceeds helping to fund free glaucoma and vision screenings in the local community. Participating are 19 courses in the San Antonio area, with those1 courses waiving full or partial green fees. The card is a $300 value.
