Gerald M. Holzmann, Sr.
Gerald Maunce Holzmann, Sr., bom in San Antonio on April 27, 1909, died at McKenna Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 25, 1995 after an extended illness.
Mr. Holzmann began a career in railroading in San Antonio in 1925 as a messenger for the old international and great Northern Railroad vhich later became the Missouri Pacific Railroad and is today’s Union Pacific Railroad. He progressed through various positions in the railroad’s operating department including having worked in Palestine, Kingsville, Freeport and Mart, Texas; DeQuincy and Monroe. Louisiana, and Kansas C ity, Missouri, jwhcre he became general manager of the railroad s northern lines, ending his career as general manager of the southern lines in Houston In March, 1974, after almost 50 years of service with the railroad, Mr Holzmann and his wife, Bemell, retired in New Braunfels where he was active in the Knights of Columbus, nsmg to the position of Grand Knight, and was also President of the New Braunfels Optimist ( lub He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bemell K ; son, Gerald M Jr and wife Mary Ann of New Braunfels; son, Thomas A and wife Kay of
San Antonio; grandchildren, Came Kraft and husband Jeff, Kim Schom and husband Scott. Debbie Parke and husband David, Todd and Tim Holzmann; great-grandchildren, Magan, Sam and Paige Kraft and Ryan Parke; also one brother, Herbert P Holzmann of San Antonio.
A rosary was recited Monday evening at Doeppcnschmidt funeral Home.
Funeral mass will be celebrated T uesday, Feb. 28, 1995 at 10:30 a m. at Sis Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Msgr Edward lilly, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Sis. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Immediately following the burial service, a reception for friends and f amily will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in New Braunfels.
The family has requested anyone wishing to send a memorial contnbu-tion may send them to the Sis Peter and Paul School Trust fund.
