I prefer a light trigger when I shoot at the gun range, but when I hunt, I prefer a slightly heavier trigger. Now I can have both without having to visit my gunsmith. Another interesting feature with Savage Accu-Trigger firearms is the safety mechanism. Savage’s new safety mechanism is a more “user friendly” design featuring a larger teardrop shaped mechanism. It is easierUNICORNS/From 1B to operate, even with gloves on. The Accu-Trigger is currently available on some of their varmint calibers, but this new trigger system will be standard on all Savage rifles by next deer season. My advice, before you buy another rifle, check out this new Accu-Trigger. You will be impressed. New Braunfels will put its speed and hitting prowess up against new foes this season as the Unicorns move into a new district with teams such as Dripping Springs, Boerne, Del Valle, Alamo Heights, Bastrop, Lockhart and Lake Travis. “We go from a district with Smithson Valley and Kerrville-Tivy, so that’s nice, but we add teams like Dripping Springs, who is pretty good each year, and Alamo Heights and Boerne,” Edwards said. “I don’t know much about Lockhart and Bastrop.” The Unicorns begin district play on Monday, March ll when they play Bastrop at home. New Braunfels gets its first look at cross-town rivals Canyon on Mar. 28 and the Unicorns play Alamo Heights first on Mar. 14. New Braunfels ends district play against Lake Travis on Apr. 25. Canyon scored once more in the bottom half o the sixth when Justin Schafer reached on an error by the shortstop and Tyler T\mnell — the only Canyon player to not record a strikeout — moved him to second on a groundnut to the pitcher. Shafer then moved to third on a wild pitch before scoring on another wild pitch. Canyon next plays at the San Antonio Tburnament on Thursday. “We have a tough tournament coming up this weekend,” Garza said. “There’s going to be a lot of 5A teams in the bracket and that’s what we need to do get better — play stronger competion. It’s just a matter of whether you are going to step up and play better or are you going to roll over and play dead. You’ve got to play better.” DAVID INGRAM/Herald-Zeitung Canyon third baseman Chad Gregson (15) attempts to beat out a throw to first base during Monday nights’ game. The umpire ruled that Gregson was out on this particular play. ting to that point where it was hard to play the ball, but he stayed with it and made the catch. I was happy with that.” Cougar fans had much to be happy about in the third inning as Thompson completed his first scoreless inning of work by inducing two groundouts combined with one strikeout. But in the fourth Thompson gave up a towering two-run blast to Yates after getting two quick outs. Thompson finished the game after pitching four innings, giving up six hits, walking four, and allowing three earned runs. Alamo Heights added one run in the fifth on two throwing errors, and in the sixth, Yates got hold of another pitch and sent it over center field on a line drive for a three-run homerun. The Mules added two more runs ;
