will be at 2 Feb at Palm Valley Lutheran Cemetery in Round Rock Texas with the Rev Jim Newman officiating Mr Bell 91 died Feb in Austin The son of William and Mary Bell he was born May 2 1908 in Waxahachie Texas He married Geanice Ellis on Nov 16 in Houston Texas j Mr Bell resided in Beaumont for 20 years where he managed Warren Electric Company He was a member of First United Methodist Church there He and his wife retired to New Braunfels iwhere they resided for 17 years Mr Bell was a World War II veter an and a 32nd degree Mason I GOVIER Alice Govier of New Braunfels Texas passed away Thursday Feb 10 2000 at Eden Home in New Braunfels She was 88 The daughter of Regina and Otto Kerry she was born on April 9 1911 in New Braunfels Texas She married Robert Govier Jr in 1929 in New Braunfels Mrs Govier was a long time member of the First Protestant Church a vol unteer at Eden Home a Red Cross Volunteer at McKenna Memorial Hospital and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star She was preceded in death by her spouse Robert Govier Jr on Jan 4 1980 Survivors include sons Robert A Govier and Marvin is preceded in death by his wife Geanice He is survived by two daughters Nancy and Charles Moorhead of Round Rock Lynda and Ernest Bijowski of Houston two sons Bill and Bonnie Miller of Houston and Monty Miller of Houston 12 grandchildren Mark Lindsay and Jeff Moorhead Will and Sam Miller Matthew Marvin Michael Ginny and Morgan Miller and Erik Evan and Bonnie Bijowski There will be no visitation Arrangements are under the direc tion of Beck Funeral Home of given to Eden Home New Braunfels TX 78130 Heitkamp Olga Brehm Heitkamp 93 of New Braunfels died Friday Feb Mrs Heitkamp was born Sept 6 1906 in Fratt and has been a New Braunfels resident for 65 years She was involved in 4H Club activities in her earlier years was a life member of Solms Bowling Club and a Faithful member of Faith United Church of Christ She was married to Lee Roy Heitkamp on June 26 1929 who preceded her in death on May 6 1981 Survivors include two daughters Kathleen Hofirnann and husband Harold and Carol Staats and hus band Kenneth both of New Braunfels a son Harvey Heitkamp and wife Dorine of New Braunfels two daughtersin law Patsy Hare and husband of Canyon Lake and Marian Hicks and husband Jack of New Braunfels 11 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren Funeral services will be Tuesday Feb 15 2000 at Faith United Church of Christ with the Rev Lee Zillmann offici ating Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park under the direction of Zoeller Funeral Home will be at Zoeller Funeral Home on Monday Feb 14 2000 from 9 until 9 with the family receiving friends from 6 until 8 Memorials may be made to Faith United Church of Christ or the American Diabetes Association Zoeller Funeral Home Kingsbury will stay with the dis trict one more year in a teaching or administrative capacity but which campus or what position has not been determined He said he would retire from education after that year Kingsburys retirement will mark the end of a long and distinguished career in NBISD one touching the lives of players and staff He will be missed Kingsbury said he talked to his students and players Friday after noon about his decision to retire I think they are all very under standing and know where I am coming from And I know that they will continue to work hard to be he said Players and school staff described Kingsbury as a man of integrity a coach who was fair to all players and as someone who often played the role of friend and father figure Keith Garinger principal of NBHS said he respected coach Kingsburys excellent coaching career both as an administrator and as a parent Garingers son Geoff Hangart ner is a senior on the team As a parent and an excoach I obviously think Im very very proud of the fact that my son got to play for him I cant think of any other football coaching staff Id rather my son have the chance to work Garinger said Several players said both as a coach and as a friend Kingsbury would be almost impossible to replace Hangartner center and defensive line said I totally understand why hes doing it but he is really going to be missed around here He has helped me out personally and hes helped out everyone who has come through the program not only in football but in Senior Joel Gonzales offensive guard said over the past year his relationship with Kingsbury devel oped more into a friendship rather than just a playercoach bond Hes definitely had an impact He taught me no matter how hard it gets there is always going to be an Gonzales said He also said coach Kingsburys program instilled more discipline in football players and students Aldo DeLaGarza a junior on the offensive and defensive line said Kingsbury supported players on and off the field and treated stu dents equally LEE Harvean Darlene Lee of New Braunfels passed away at home on Thursday Feb at the age of 62 Mrs Lee was born June 4 1937 in San Antonio Texas Mrs Lee is survived by her hus band Archie N Lee five children Harvey Lee and wife Jean Laurie Lee Bates and husband Robert Terry Lee and wife Linda Cordie Lee and wife Abby Alice Berger and husband Bobby one brother Harvey Williams III and wife Donna 11 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild Visitation will be from 5 to 9 Friday Feb 11 at the Mortuary Questionable nuggets stay in school freezers AUSTIN AP Texas schools are waiting for assurances from the Department of Agriculture before serving chick en nuggets from Gold Kist plants in Alabama Gold Kist inspectors said in a report that appeared last week in Cox Newspapers that chickens with sores scabs and tumors were processed into the nuggets at two plants in Alabama The Austin AmericanStatesman reported Saturday that nearly all of the 172 schools that received the nuggets are keeping them in freez ers and away from children Our impression is that virtually all of them have decided not to serve these products and I think thats said Sherron Heinemann spokes woman for the Texas Department of Human Services Robert Joicus business manager for Barnes Independent School to lose him but we are excited that he has the opportunity to be with his he said And I think the kids in New Braunfels appreciated the chance to have a little bit of that father with coach With more than 21 years of ser vice to NBISD we can truly call him a coach dedicated to the spirit tradition and commitment of the Unicorn Reaves said He has stressed a strong work eth ic honesty commitment and integrity with not only the coaching staff but with all of the athletes That marks the true merits of a coach not just a record of wins and How he got here Kingsbury earned an elementary education degree at Southwest Texas State University in 1974 after serving four years in the Marine Corps He also received his masters degree in athletic administration at SWT He began his NBISD career as a New Braunfels Middle School foot ball coach in 1974 In 1978 he left coaching to pursue a business ven ture and to enjoy the birth of his first son Klint In 1979 he joined the NBHS Unicorn football staff as defensive line coach and also served as a physical education teacher at Carl Schurz Elementary School In 1982 he earned the position of I suppose the thing that will put our minds to rest will be coordinator Kingsbury returned as NBHS head football coach and athletic director in 1995 He said he recognized something special about the kids at NBHS after leaving to coach at Madison in 1991 The main reason I returned was the tradition and the kids and the community The kids here are very special They are special in their work ethic their commitment thats the main thing that drew me he said In 1997 the community got to see the hard work and dedication coach Kingsbury and players put into the football program when the Unicorns went to the state semifinals in District 5A Some people were saying we couldnt compete in the 5A dis but we went out and won games and its because our kids are prepared by hard he said That team in 97 was able to bring the community together by what they did on the field It shows you its a matter of atti That year Kingsbury was named District 26 5A Coach of the Year by the San Antonio Express News and KMOL Chan nel 4 During Kingsburys career the Unicorns had a 3225 record for five seasons a Region 4 Champi onship title a District champi onship title were twice bidistrict finalists won the bidistrict cham pionship and were twice district runnersup During
