New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - December 30, 2000, New Braunfels, Texas Page 8A — Herald-Zeiti ING — Saturday, December 30, 2000Religion Briefs have that faith spark within them will worship. I think it’s an opportunity for them to once again be reminded of how important that is for them.” But oftentimes during the middle of the year, Lange said, attendance in many churches dips, only to pick up again when the settled school year begins again. “I would say summertime is a time when you have more people going places with their families, that there is a drop in attendance,” Lange said. “But often for us, when it comes back to fall and people get in their normal routines once again, worship once again picks up.” Resolutions, though often made with the best of intentions, are nonetheless infamous for being broken. The likelihood of keeping a commitment throughout the year, said Gobert, is greater when accountability enters in. “I think resolutions need to be committed over to the Lord, because human willpower is , weak, the flesh is weak, and we give up easily. I think making a commitment to the Lord is probably more beneficial... resolutions usually are made to oneself, not made to anyone else, so there’s no accountability. Whereas you make a commitment to the Lord and turn it over to the Lord, the Lord helps in keeping that commitment,” said Gobert. During the months of January and February, New Year’s resolutions are at the forefront of people’s minds. Though they tend to fade with each day, resolutions, or commitments, are definitely a worthwhile endeavor that can influence a life for the better, Lange said. “I think those are good opportunities in life to consider what are our priorities in our life and where does God play a part in that.”Universalists meet Wednesday The Unitarian Universalists meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 3 at 970 N.
