Hospice Tree of Lights The Hospice Tree of Lights is up atop the New Braunfels Utilities building. Throughout the season, a light will be lit on that tree for every donation made to Hospice New Braunfels. Another tree in McKenna Memorial Hospital’s lobby features a white dove for every donation to Hospice. Donations may be made in person or mailed to 6I3 N. Walnut Ave., New Braunfels 78130. For information, call 625-7500. Food drive The Lone Star Booster Club is holding a canned food drive to help the Children’s Shelter for the holidays. The community is invited to drop off donations at Lone Star Soryu Karate School located at 982 Loop 337 near Brauntex Rentals between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, ending Dec. 21. Anyone who brings IO cans will get a free week of karate lessons. If there are any questions, call 620-1319. Circle Arts season passes Season passes for 1996, Circle Arts Theatre’s 28th season, are on sale now at China-n-Things in Landa Plaza, Kristi’s on San Antonio St., and The Book Trader on-Seguin Avenue. Designed for Christmas giving, the pass offers five admissions with flexible use. This year there is a separate pass for senior citizens (60+). Since this one is lower-priced, it is non-trans-ferable, and may be used by senior citizens only. The schedule of shows include “The Goodbye Girl,” “Twelfth Night,” “Big River,” and “Gone with the Wurst.” The sale ends Dec. 24. CASA training CASA of Central Texas will conduct a 40-hour course to train advocates , in January 1996. lf you believe that abused, neglected or abandoned children need someone to speak for them in court, you may be just the nght person to train as an advocate. Court Appointed Special Advocates are appointed by a judge to give the court an objective view of what is in the best interest of a child involved in the legal system. Live nativity scene The Holy Family Church Youth Program will hold its fourth annual live nativity on Dec. 22 and 23 from 7 p.m. to ? at the Holy Family Church CCD Center at 245 South Hidalgo Street. Sesquicentennial book The radio program New Braunfels Sesquicentennial Minutes that has been broadcast during 1995 has been reduced to a book and is available for sale. The price is $ 15, plus $ 1.24 sales tax. Exact delivery date is not available. But the Sophienburg Museum and Archives will have book gift certificate available for sale until Friday, Dec. 22. Christmas tree recycling The City of New Braunfels and New Braunfels Utilities will sponsor the 9th annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program in Landa Park beginning Dec. 26. An area in the swimming pool parking lot will be designated as the site to receive the trees. Remove nails and other metal fasteners from the trees to protect the employees and the chippers used to convert the trees into mulch. Blood drives Tile South Texas Blood and Tissue Center will hold blood drives Thursday, Dec. 28 at the Kirkwood Manor from 20 a.m. to I p.m. in the Blood Center vehicle in the parking lot of 2590 Loop 337, and at Colonial Manoi from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 28 in the parking lot of 821 Hwy. 81 West.
