Ann Rogers, Terry Burto and Bob Peterson along with other members of the American Cancer Society honored those who volunteer for the cause. American Canoe Society recognizes volunteers The Comal County Unit of the American Cancer Society held its annual volunteer recognition event Monday at the Comal County Senior Citizen Center. Bob Peterson, president of the Comal County Unit, said almost 40 volunteers attended the annual event. "We do this once a year to give all the volunteers an opportunity to meet each other,” Peterson said. “We also gave appreciation certificates to all the volunteers.” The Comal County Unit sponsors a number of programs, including the annual gala in August and the Relay for Life in April. “We also have the Look Good, Feel Better program, which is for women who have had treatment for cancer,” Peterson said. “There is the Road to Recovery Program which volunteers drive cancer patients to their treatments in San Antonio and other places in the area.” /Mso, the Prostate Cancer Support' Group meets the last Wednesday of each month, Peterson said. Tours leaving every 15 to 20 minutes from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The tour takes 75 minutes. Area choirs are stationed throughout the different cavern rooms, making each stop a distinctive musical experience. Admission is $20 for adults 13 and over, $12 for children 4 to 12 and $18 for those over 60. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to charities, including Hope Hospice of New Braunfels, Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio, and the San Antonio Chapter of the American Red Cross.
