Comal ISD’s Christmas countdown will get into full swing next week with a variety of holiday musical programs and plays.
Instrumental music departments from Canyon High and Canyon Middle schools will present a joint Christmas program at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Civic Center. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade bands from CMS, and Canyon High’s concert band, wind ensemble, stage band and jazz ensemble will perform traditional Christmas music.
There will be no admission, but free-will donations will be taken to cover rental costs for the auditorium.
The middle school choir will present a program at 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and a special Christmas assembly is set for 3 p.m. Friday.
At 2 p.m. Thursday, a special assembly, presented at Canyon High School by the
student council, will feature a multi-media presentation of “The Dream Makers.”
The Smithson Valley High School choir will tour Mountain Valley and Bulverde middle schools to present concerts. The Broadway musical, “Li’l Abner,” will also be presented in the SVHS Commons area at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
The Bulverde Middle School band and choir will give a concert in the school gym at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, and a Christmas dance in the gym is planned from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Friday.
Third-graders at Bulverde Elementary School will put on a Christmas play at 2 p.m. Thursday for students and parents. The traditional Christmas student assembly will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday, featuring the teacher choir and a fourth and fifth grade choir.
Accompanied by xzlophones, choir students at Mountain Valley School will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the band will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the school gym.
At Comal Elementary School, a Christmas production, “What Shall We Do This Year for a Christmas play?,” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for parents and students. The cast will include 85 second- and third-graders.
“Scrooge,” based on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” will be performed by fifth-graders rat Frazier Elementary, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
A Christmas program featuring songs, reading and xylophone ensembles will be presented at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Goodwin Primary School. The first performance is for parents, and the second for students.
