If 'successful in the primary, Isaaks will challenge Democrat incumbent Charles Baird. In making her announcement, Isaaks safd, “I have consulted with my family, friends and colleagues and have decided to run for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, our state’s highest criminal court. I believe Texas is a great place to live, work and raise a family and I want to help keep Texas great for my children.” i “As a judge,my job‘Will be ID **. *, r uphold the law and see to it that justice has been carried out. It is not the role of the Court of Criminal Appeals to overturn verdicts on mere technicalities. The Court of Criminal Appeals is there to protect us from wrongful prosecution and to ensure that our rights as citizens have not been violated. The court is not there for criminals to roll the dice and hope for a break,” said Isaaks. “I believe my unique experiences as both a criminal prosecutor and family violence expert will help make our state's highest criminal court more mindful of the family violence problems that plague our state and have played a contributing role in the breakdown of our families,” Isaaks Vicki Isaaks is currently serving as a supervising assistant district attorney with the office of Dallas County District Attorney John Vance. Isaaks is the supervisor of the Family Violence and Child Abuse Division where she supervises both trial sections, the protective order division and the training coordinator division encompassing 43 individuals including prosecutors, investigators and support staff, as well as management of all grants to these divisions. Isaaks has nearly IO years of experience as a prosecutor and two years as an assistant public defender She has served four years as the chief of the Family Violence Division. Isaaks is the vice-chair for Governor Bush’s State Team for Violence Against Women Act Grants Planning She is also a peer review consultant for the National Institute of Justice. In 1996, she initiated and implemented a project, through grant fonding, for a protective order rapid response process, which reduced the wait for a protective order from an average of 31 days to an average of IO days. In 1997, Isaaks worked extensively with legislators in Austin on the rewrite of the Texas antiganting law and assisted as an expert witness. Math Is Easy!
