San Antonio Street Veterans association plans job bur The Non Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA) will conduct a job fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 13 at the San Antonio Convention Center (North Banquet Hall). The event is one of 12 the association is sponsoring this year to help separating and retiring military personnel find civilian jobs. The fair is free to military personnel of all ranks who have decided to leave active service. Separated and retired veterans are invited to attend, as are family members of military service members. Howard Harrell, director of NCOA’s Veterans Employment Assistance Program, said military personnel are in great demand because they are highly skilled, well-trained, motivated and responsible people who are committed to following a job through to the end. Job fairs are part of the NCOA’s Veterans Employment Assistance (VEA) Program. Today, reductions in the number of military personnel have made the VEA Program especially important. Since the VEA’s first job fair 22 years ago, NCOA estimates that nearly I million people have utfed the VEA program. The program has been awarded several presidential Flags,” bestowed on organizations or programs offering volunteer service. The NCOA is a non-profit, fraternal organization founded in 1960 to promote and protect the rights and benefits of enlisted personnel in all five branches of the U.S. military, including National Guard, reserves and veterans. NCOA received a charter from Congress in 1988, and is the only organization exclusively dedicated to representing enlisted service members.
