They will run twice a month for the next two months. The seminar teaches parents how to help their children through the transitions of a divorce. For more information or to register, call 620-1299. Reach for a Star Reach for a Star is looking for donations of toys, cash and time to help give local children a Christmas. Benefit cookbooks Cookbooks to benefit the Joe Hales Memorial Scholarship Fund are now on sale. Each recipe was submitted by a mentor-tutor in the New Braunfels Independent School District Helping One Student To Succeed program. The one-of-a-kind recipe books are on sale for $6.50 and may be purchased at the office at Carl Schurz Elementary School. Cancer support The Comal County Cancer Support Dialogue Group, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the North Building next to Norwest Bank at 1000 N. Walnut Ave. Kale Nolle and Canni Ulbrich will speak on chemotherapy. Victims of cancer and their significant others are invited to attend. Advent Vespers Advent Vespers, the annual communitywide choral concert, is set for 4 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church. All singers are invited. Melitta Frueh is the director, and JoAnn Lemmon is the accompanist. The event is sponsored by the New Braunfels Music Study club, and funds will be used for music scholarships. Class of ’72 Members of the Canyon High School Class of 1972 should contact Maureen Magin Haas at (210) 629-4558 about information concerning fellow classmates. The 25th class reunion is planned for the summer. Canyon fund-raiser Canyon High School’s senior class is selling “all star cards” to raise money for Project Graduation, a drug-and-alcohol free party for graduation night. The card offers discounts from 16 New Braunfels merchants and can save up to $316. Call 606-0729 and a senior will deliver a card to you. Aggie Mom cookies Orders are now being taken for the annual Aggie Mom traditional German Christmas cookies. The selections are pfaffenbrod, mandel kranze, wiener zollen, molasses platzchen and zimmsteme. The cost is $3 per dozen. Orders are to be picked up Dec. 8 at Canyon High School.    Proceeds    provide scholarships for Comal County students entering Texas A & M University. Children’s advocates Court    Appointed    Special Advocates of Central Texas Inc. is conducting a 40-hour course to train volunteer advocates beginning in February. A judge appoints advocates to give the court an objective view of what is in the best interest of a child involved in the legal system, lf you believe that abused, neglected or abandoned children need someone to speak for them in court, you may be eligible to become an advocate. Oratorical contest American Legion Comal Post No. 179 urges high school students from the New Braunfels area to compete in the 14th District's annual National High School Oratorical Contest. The subject for the prepared oration portion of the contest must deal w ith some phase of the U.S. Constitution and must last eight to IO minutes long. Arts and crafts The Bulverde Senior Center Christmas Arts and Crafts Show is set for IO a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Bulverde Community Center, 1747 Ammann Road, Bulverde. Thirty crafters will have displays, and baked goodies will be available. Admission is free. Native American stories The Unitarian Universalists will have Tom Heydman, a government professor at San Antonio College and a professional storyteller, bring some insight into Native American spirituality. He became particularly interested in this when he started telling stories to his grandchildren about their Native American heritage. We will meet at the Faith United Church of Christ, 970 N. Loop 337 at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. All interested are invited. Newcomers party The Newcomers Club is having its Christmas party on Dec. 6 at the Senior Citizens Center of Comal County. Election nullified The Board of Directors of the Canyon Lake Action Center Inc. has declared that the annual election of directors on Oct. 19 null and void, due to procedural errors.
