Well child physicals
Well child physicals are provided at the Comal County Health Department for children on Medicaid from birth to five years of age. Well child check-ups include nutritional assessment, growth and development assessment, vision and hearing tests, anemia screening, blood lead testing, complete pl ysical examinations and immunizations. These physicals are provided by a registered nurse and are by appointment only. For information, or to schedule an appointment please contact the Health Department at 620-5595.
Trade show tickets on sale
Tickets for the Chamber’s Business Trade Show to be held Sept. 12 and 13 are on sale at the chamber office or from any member of the Trade Show committee. This is the seventh year for the show. There are 66 booths, with more than 60 exhibitors showcasing their products and/or services. Many door prizes will be given, with a tnp for two to Las Vegas as the grand pnze. The Sneak Preview on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. is a ’gala-like’ affair featuring exhibit previews, show-type entertainment, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The show on Wednesday includes drawings at noon for five Texas Get-Away Trips with live entertainment and complimentary happy hour from 5:50 p.m. to closing.

The session will provide you with basic start up information, including Small Business Development Center checklist for going into business, start-up financing and SBA loan application procedures, and an overview of the business plan outline. The Comal County Family Women's Center is starting group peer counseling for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Individuals who have experienced violence in their family or have been sexually assaulted in the past are encouraged to use this opportunity to explore how these events have impacted their lives, while joining with others in the therapeutic process.

Girl Scout registration
Girt Scout registration will be held Saturday, Aug. 26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Girl Scout House on Howard St. near Landa Park. Any girl kindergarten age or older can register.
The Alamo Schuetzen Verein (shooting club) will have its annual
prize shoot and German style sausage dinner on Aug. 27 at the club range, located on Old Nacogdoches Road, near the Gifford Hill Plant (formerly Servtex), eight miles south of New Braunfels, take F.M. 482 to the Village of Comal and right on Old Nacogdoches Road about .75 mile.
Prize shoot starts at 9 a.m. Family style dinner will be served from noon to 2 p.m. Homemade deserts will also be available. The public is welcome.
The Alamo Club has been in the
same area for some 104 years, has had the same family style dinner about 54 years. This is their only fund-raiser each year. Come and enjoy a good meal, bring a lawn chair and relax under the trees. For information, call 625-5067.
The Texas State Skat League’s annual state tournament will be held at Goerke’s #1 near Marion Aug. 27 and the Hermann Sons Lodge, south of
Giddings on Sept. 3. Play is required at only one of the locations. There will be a warm-up at IO a.m. with the main event at I p.m. at each location.
As earlier announcements have indicated, public skat in Texas has continued to decline over the years. In an attempt to slowjfois, all those with any interest in skat are invited to come t6 the regular Saturday game at the American Legion in Seguin a little before I p.m. Anyone wanting more information on skat, including beginner/novice
