Maria Sung suggested that the church was holding her husband, Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, against his will after he met with the pope and Vatican officials in an effort to open a dialogue and avert his excommunication. Fighting escalates on day of mourning SKOPJE, Macedonia (AP) — Macedonian army helicopter gunships rushed Saturday to try rescue a police unit encircled by ethnic Albanian rebels in the mountains of northern Macedonia, state television reported. The escalation in fighting — which threatened to further erode confidence in a tentative peace agreement for this troubled Balkan nation — came as Macedonians buried seven soldiers and declared a day of mourning following a spate of deadly rebel attacks. The rebel fighters reportedly surrounded an unspecified number of policemen in the village of Radusa, near the border with Kosovo. Floods kill at least 67 in northeastern Iran TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Flash floods triggered by heavy rain have inundated farms and villages in much of northeastern Iran, killing at least 67 people, state media and officials said Saturday. Dozens of villagers in Golestan and Khorasan provinces were stranded while others are feared missing, a news agency reported. Under Construction Weekend Street Closures • Barricades will be up in the East Lincoln Street neighborhood northeast of the shuttle pick-up area at the last public exit. • No through traffic will be allowed in the East Lincoln Street neighborhood. • Barricades will be up at: — East Lincoln Street at Union Street. — Cross River Street at Union Street. — Washington Street at Mather Street. • Parking in these areas will be by permit only, and traffic will be limited to residents and guests of residents only during weekends. • No barricades will be up at West Lincoln and Union Street. • Tourists are encouraged to use the shuttles and officially designated pickup areas. • The city has a small area designated for picking up tubers in private vehicles. • Exit 187 from southbound Interstate 35 to Farm-to-Market Road 725 — The exit is closed permanently. Detour signs will be placed along Business 35 directing traffic to FM 725. A large detour sign also will be placed south of FM 306 notifying I-35 traffic that the ramp has been closed and which ramps to use instead of Exit 187. Also, a large flashing sign will be placed just south of Texas 46 telling I-35 traffic to use Exit 188 to get to downtown New Braunfels. The ramp closure will expedite the construction of FM 725 near i-35. • Northbound entrance ramp to Interstate 35 from FM 725 — The northbound frontage road from Chevron north to FM 725 also will be moved over to the newly constructed frontage road. This traffic switch will require the closure of the northbound entrance ramp to 1-35 from FM 725. The northbound frontage road traffic still will be allowed to enter the ramp by taking the left turn off the frontage road. The northbound frontage road bridge over the Guadalupe River is scheduled to open in about one month, and FM 725 traffic will be able to use it to access northbound 1-35. • FM 725 Underpass — Expected to be reopened to full width in August. • Interstate 35 northbound and southbound frontage roads — work ■ continuing from Ruekle Road to Executive Drive.    r • North side turnaround — This turnaround will remain open throughout construction but will require various detours. • Northbound Interstate 35 frontage road bridge over the Guadalupe River — will be opened to one lane of traffic today. • The Solms Road Interstate 35 overpass — will be closed from Aug. 2 through Dec. 2 while workers raise and widen it. Traffic should detour to the Ruekle Road overpass or the Schwab Road underpass. • Southbound Interstate 35 from one mile north of Solms Road to one mile south of Solms Road — right lane will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15 while work is conducted on the Solms Road bridge above interstate traffic.
