Felger, of New Braunfels, a field representative for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, recently returned from a special Level 2 training school held at the Society’s Home Office in Omaha, Nebraska. The school emphasized total needs selling and fraternalism. Woodmen of the World, founded in 1890, is one of the largest fraternal benefit societies in the U.S. and offers insurance whole life, universal life, term and hospital supplement insurance, and annuities. The Society’s 853,000 members, who hold more than one million certificates, belong to 3,000 lodges throughout the U.S. Woodmen lodges across the country conduct fiatemal projects of benefit to people and their communities. These projects range from the presentation of U.S. flags to the donation of equipment to fire departments, rescue squads and hospitals, and assistance for senior citizens, the handicapped and orphans. Rookie of the Year J.R. Felger is shown with his Rookie of the Year award, presented to him by Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society. This award is given to a new field representative for excellence in total needs selling and for contributing many hours to his local lodge system and community. Fraternal Week recognized by city; open houses held locally Mayor Paul E. Fraser proclaimed April 23-29 as Fraternal Week in New Braunfels. J*R. Felger accepted the proclamation on behalf of Woodmen of the World. The designation was made in conjunction with National Volunteer Week, which recognizes America’s volunteer spirit. Fraternal Week is celebrated each year by the National Fraternal Congress of America (NFCA), its 97 member societies and nearly IO million members. A variety of fraternal and volunteer activities arc held across the country to celebrate the impact fraternal s and their member volunteers have on their communities. Locally, firatemals celebrated by holding an Open House throughout the week of April 23-29. Both Lodges, #0347 and Youth Ranger Lodge #4633, planned a nature hike and litter pick-up in Panther Canyon. Local Woodmen part of state convention Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society Lodge #0347 of New Braunfels President J.R. Felger and Vice President Cliff Davis were delegates to the society’s Texas Jurisdictional Convention March 17-19 at the Wyndham Greenspoint Hotel in Houston. Registration for the more than 600 delegates and officers, representing 63,845 members in Texas, began at I p.m. on Friday, March 17 according to President Otha Floyd Hooper, of Houston, who presided. Executive Vice President Wayne Graham, of Omaha, Neb.; National Treasurer and General Counsel Curtis Owen, also of Omaha; and National Trustee Thomas T. Gallion III, of Montgomery, Ala., spoke at the convention. An audio-visual report on the society’s financial, fraternal and life insurance progress by National President John G. Bookout highlighted the Saturday session. The convention banquet was held Saturday evening at 7 p.m. The convention concluded Sunday morning with a memorial service hon oring deceased members; the presentation of the Jurisdictional gift of a television and VCR to DePelchin Children’s Center in Houston; and the election and installation of officers. Cliff Davis was elected as a Trustee on the state level.
