John was retired from a civil service career at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He had also served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1961.In his early twenties, he also played semi-pro baseball. John and his adored wife moved to Canyon Lake in 1974 where Helen Mareau,of Salix, Iowa; they enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and being with friends. John also became an avid shuffleboard player. He loved the competition and the camaraderie of friends. He was Icnown for his quick wit and humor. John is preceded in death by his wife, Ilene; his parents, Joseph Claude and Irene Hafer Goodman; sister, Katherine and brother, Don Lee. He is survived by his brother, Eugene(Gene)of Bell-brook, Ohio; sister-in-law, nieces, Donna Leighton and husband Lennie; Wendy Sue Mareau, Tracy Ann Mareau James-Horne, her son Chad; and nephew, Nathan Elie Mareau. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at John’s home church, St. Andrew Lutheran at Canyon Lake at 2:00. Inurnment of cremains will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Andrew Lutheran Church or your favorite charity. Alejandro Gutierrez Jr. Funeral arrangements are complete at the Zoeller Funeral Home for Alejandro Gutierrez, Jr. who passed away on April 12,2011 at the age of 46 years. He is survived by his father, Abel Aleman; daughter, Melanie Ramirez; son, Ale-jandro Gutierrez III, daughter, Alexia Gutierrez; granddaughter, Lily Rose Ramirez; brother, Edward Gutierrez and sisters, Annie Banda and Erica Cerda. He was preceded in death 10;00 a.m. mass at the Holy Col. Arthur R. Hedlund Jr., Ret. Col. Arthur R. Hedlund Jr. Ret., 66 of Canyon Lake, Texas passed away April 12th 2011 in his loving wife’s presence, Clarissa "Soni” Christensen, during his courageous battle with cancer. Art is survived by his family; Eleanor Mikoloski Hedlund, Soni Christensen, Kenneth and Kathy Hedlund, Bruce Hedlund, Elizabeth and Real Poirier, Nancy Sisco Carothers, Jason and Tara Hedlund, Kristin and Michael Grasso, Kara Hedlund, Terry Ander-ton, Chelsi Christensen, Hanna Anderton, Camden Ander-ton, Bella Grasso, Taylor Anderton, Gia Grasso, and Madelynn Dinan. Bom in Worcester, Ma, the son of Eleanor “Babcia” Mikoloski Hedlund and the late Arthur R. Hedlund, Sr. Art was a graduate of Tantasqua Regional High School. He graduated from Marietta College with a B.S. in Business Admin. After college, he joined the Air Force to be become a fighter pilot. His military career spanned 27 years in service to theUSAF. James loved his profession as AreaManager for Uroplasty, a medical device company, and spent countless hours in operating rooms, being able to see the significant differences those devices made in the lives of so many people. That passion was evident in the many professional accolades and awards covering the walls of his office. Although he worked as a highly successful Sales Professional throughout his career, his true focus always remained at home with the "love of his life”, his young daughter, Lillian. His favorite times were taking trips with her to many des-ti nations and enjoyed wherever they were together, whether at Schlitterbahn or Father and Daughter dances. They were looking forward to a special planned trip to the Menger to celebrate her First Communion next month. The world has lost a great smile, a passionate family man and one of the proudest Dads on the planet. Whether traveling to ski in Canada or snorkel in Hawaii, he was happiest when his daughter was by his side. A lover of the outdoors, he especially enjoyed his family ranch in the country. James had the special gift of friendship and brought joy to all that knew him. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Lillian Alexandra Goodbread, his former wife and Lillian’s mother, Sarah Anne Grow Platt, liis sis ter Stacy E. Goodbread Irons and her husband, Robert. I lis aunt, Connie Elaine Stott, grandmother, Louise Stott, uncle David E. Goodbread and aunt Joann Goodbread. He is also survived by cousins Donald C. Reynolds, Jr, Ryan S. Reynolds, David E. Goodbread Jr. and .Samuel E. Goodbread. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. (iood-bread Jr. and Stephany Dianne Stott Goodbread, grandparents, James E. Goodbread, Sr., Edith C. James will be greatly missed by many but his legacy will live through all the acts of kindness that he will continue to inspire. He gave his love unconditionally to his family and friends.
