Building permits take flying leap in March

Building activity jumped almost $4 million last month, following fairly* slow construction figures for January and February.
March 1985 construction figures totaled $5.20 million, while those for February were $1.79 million and January', $2.16 million.
The number of single-family residences started in March also rose significantly — from 12 in February to 27 in March, for a total value of $2.01 million.
Also in March, Classen Enterprises began a five-unit condominium at 211 W. lincoln valued at $315,000.
There were ll commercial projects, totaling $1 88 million, which included a bank, two stores, and three industrial projects.
MBank-New Braunfels started work on a new bank building at 451 Main Plaza. That project will cost about $1 18 million And Funkhouser Inc . with AK Project Management, began work on a Domino's Pizza outlet on North Seguin That project is valued at $50,000

Area cities getting tax checks
New Braunfels will receive $101,391 from the local I percent tax on sales made here in February. That's an increase of $12,000 over the same period in 1984.
Total payments to the city this year amount to $548,465, which includes some sales made in 1984 last year’s payments-to-date were $468,224.
The city of Garden Ridge received $549.78 as its share ti sales tax payment. To date, that city has received $1,432,19.
The payment to Schertz for February sales dropped some from the previous year — this year’s payment is $16,789, compared to last year’s check for $20,026. Cibolo’s check also decreased, from $7,210 last time to $6,636 this payment period.
The city of Seguin had a payment of $62,306 for February’ sides, and last year’s total was $57,28p. So far in 1985, that city is up about $50,000 over last year’s payments.
San Marcos will receive a check for $118,867 for February sales. Last year’s check was $104,000.
