The New Braunfels Service League Easter Basket Committee gathered together at the home of Terri Brotze on Sunday, April 4 preparing Easter Baskets for the 10 neediest families in Now Braunfels. The Easter Basket Outreach project is an annual project of the New Braunfels Service League where each League member contributes non-perishable food items and toiletries for each family to be delivered just in time for Easter.
The Sons of the Republic of Texas held their annual National Meeting on April 2-4 at which time the 1993 officers were elected and installed. The new National officers are: President General, Jesse R. Milam Jr.KSJ of Waco; First Vice President General, L. Charles Billings, KSJ of Canyon Lake; Second Vice President, LaVon Tindall of San Augustine; Secretary General, Madison B. Wright Jr. of Houston; Treasurer Genera), Travis G. Dix son of Dallas; Historian General, Walter P. Nass Jr. of Houston; Chaplain General, C. Rogers McLane of Fort Worth, the James Butler Bonham Chapter 40 of New Braunfels of the Sons of the Republic of Texas will host a two-day State Executive Committee Meeting of the SRT in June, 1993.
“We are excited and looking forward to this Convention of National Officers, Executive Committeeman, State District Representatives, Knights of the Order of San Jacinto, and Chapter Presidents here in New Braunfels. New Braunfels settled in 1845 by German immigrants, its historic heritage and one of the largest colonies in the new Republic of Texas are the perfect surrounding for an SRT conference," stated Bonham chapter President, Jacob R. Casanova.
Hermann Sons Lodge
The Spring Branch Herman Sons Lodge 127 has selected Lilian Kosarek to receive the lodge’s award for humanitarian service in the community for 1992. Gloria Gass, lodge president announced that a certificate recognizing the contribution of time and talent of Kosarek has made during the year to the Canyon Lake Action Center and the Canyon Lake Senior Citizens Association was presented at the Jan. 17 meeting.
At the action center, Kosarek was in charge of van trips three times per month, held weekly games, prepared the main course
for the monthly meals. She is treasurer of the Senior Citizens Association and in charge of arranging for the annual Christmas meal.
