New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - April 3, 1996, New Braunfels, Texas Winners Between the blue sky, the red roof of the bandstand and the bright yellow sun, all the primary colon were represented for the YotXh AitBeat *96 awards ceremony, held Saturday, Mardi 30. Main Street Director Lynn Fountain and Youth ArtBeat Chairman Jean Wilson dunked the event sponsors Texas Commerce Bank, Schhnerinfan and Target for their support of the second annual area youth am event. Bluebonnet Motors, which underwrote the cost of the awards ribbons, was also thanked. Autumn’s design was used fix die 1996 T-shirts, amiable for SIO at the Main Street office rn the municipal building and at the New Braunfeb Ait League Youth ArtBeat Beat of Show Winner, Shon Lopez, won 1st place In drawing In Ms age group and Bast of Show, which earned him a framed print from Hobby Lobby. Shon Is a senior at NBHS Gallery. Other logo winners include NBHS students Yvette Villanueva (2nd) and Josh Davis (3rd) and Mountain Valley student Jessica Van RoekeL Earning the “Best of Show” award was New Braunfels High School senior Shon Lopez, who won a framed print donated by Hobby Lobby. In the group entry, the mural created by Lone Star Primary School students with art teacher Carol Snider. In the kindergarten through second Erika Latimer (Mountain Valley), 2nd; Teresa Caners (Stele), 3rd; and Adrian Corona (SeeleX honorable mention. Attendance prizes were also awarded. Shenale Purvis won a $20 certificate for Sip-n-Sup, and Curtis Herring, Glen Wallace and Rebecca Stafford each won a certificate that entitles them to two hours of the free painting talents of Jean Wilson. Bryan Evans won an original, framed watercolor donated by artist Sheila Orr. Wilson expressed her thanks for the New Braunfels High School Marine Corps JROTC cadets for assisting with traffic safety around the main plaza throughout the day. She also recognized the New Braunfeb Department for providing officers who stopped traffic around the main plaza so the parade could safely cross onto foe plaza for the awards ceremony. The Youth ArtBeat chairman also recognized the members of the Youth ArtBeat committee for their hard work and time. The committee invites those who would like to help plan next year's festival to call Lynn Fountain, Main Street Office, at 608-2100.
