Nevada State Journal (Newspaper) - June 17, 1959, Reno, Nevada School District submits budget in Susanville set civil to Piunt join us Susanville tentative budget of has been submitted to the Lassen county Board of education by the Susanville school District for approval and allocation of Forest fund monies. No funds were listed in the lunch or transportation pro prams and the amount of teach ers salaries is not sufficient to employ the same number of us were employed last Armester in the four elementary schools. The District expended last semester in the lunch pro Gram. This was Over and above the returns received from Stu Bert lunch purchases. Transportation accounted for last semester which included athletic events Field trips parents transportation reimbursements and daily Lerv ice. The latter Cost the District swim Bates topped in an Effort to defray expenses the Board made increases in rates for Public use this summer of the District s swimming Pool. During the three summer months last year the District for Public swim Ming. Further deductions could be made and some of the deletions could be reinstated. This will depend on the Forest fund allocation made by the county Board. The Susanville school District asked for a 50 cent tax increase and a building Bond at the May 19 election. Both issues were Defeated. Susanville is operating on a 90 cent tax rate of per assessed valuation. Reno Soldier held for theft Auburn 19-year-old Leno i Caldier Jay Dewitt Harrington has been arrested Here and is held by Placer county officials. California Highway patrol authorities have said Harrington admits being absent without leave from fort Ord calif., and has also admitted the theft of a motorcycle in Reno.
