OBITUARYJoseph AlvesJoseph Alve«, a native resident of Ventura Couhty, died last night at his Somis ranch after a month’s illness. Mr. Alves was born April 17, 1880, in Ventura, tho son of John and Adelina Chapman Alves. He attended local schools and was married in 1012 to Miss Lena Baptiste of Somis at the Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. He moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1918 where he ranched until 1939. He had lived at the pres-rnt Alves ranch on Bradley road, Somis, since that time. He was a member of the San Fernando Elks Lodge and the Holy Name Society. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, the Rev. Leonard B. Alves of the Sacred Heart Parish, Los Angeles, and Theodore Alves of Sepulveda; a brother, Manuel of Santa Paula; four sister*, Mrs. Elena Valencia of Ojai, Mrs. Lena Leonardo of Somis, Mrs. Jennie Fontes of Oxnard and Mrs. Sou-iia Carricaburu of Santa Paula; and three grandchildren.Ito-ary will be recited at 8 tomorrow night at Reardon Brothers Mortuary. Solemn high requiem mass will be sung Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Santa Clara Church. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn with members of the Holy Name Society of the Si. Mary Magdalene Church, Camarillo, to serve as nail bearers.
