Condemn Japs For Sinking Hospital Ship
United Nations Headquarters in Australia 'INS)—The wanton sinking by a Jap submarine of an Australian hospital ship sending 299 persons to their death was announced today by United Nations headquarters and immediately evoked expressions of condemnaten from General Douglas MacArthur and Prime Minister John Curtin.
The ship the converted passenger liner, Centaur, was sent to the bottom off the east coast of Australia in flames after tile enemy torpedo was sent hurtling into her fuel tanks despite the fact that her identity was clearly denoted by brilliantly illuminated red crosses.
Curtin in an announcement frcm government headquarters at Canberra, promised that the ‘war criminals responsible for this dastardly act shall be brought to justice."
