Washington, D. C. 'INS)—The nation’s coal operators today asked the War Labor board in Washington to return the government-operated mines to them in a move that threatened to complicate the four-month truce which ended the third rn Hon-aide coqi strike yesterday.
The move came I es., than 24 hours after John L Lewis, president of the United Mine Workers, and the strike leaders, had ordered the four-month truce en the condition that the government which seized the mines on May 1st after the first walk-out con-trnue to operate the coal pits.

Detroit, Michigan <INSi—Death of a vMte woman shot by a Negro sniper 1 today brought to 29 the total of fatal- | itles sn Detroit’s race riots and created new complications in the city's quest for peace and normalcy.
The latest victim was Mrs. Sally Grubowski, 55, an innocent by-stand-er during raging battles between Negroes and whites Monday. A bullet struck her in the head.
Police announced that Napolec -Manning, Negro grocer held in jail since the shooting would be charged with her murder.
A second flare-up was reported in Hastings street, "a hot spot” in the Negro belt where city and state police pumped 200 rounds of ammunition into a building after a sniper fired .several ineffective shots at cruising officers. V
Police rushed into the building after the shooting but failed to find the sniper.
Despite the new developments, officials said that baseball and horse-rapcing would be resumed today. Both I events had been cancelled Tuesday for fear of new clashes.
Thomas Karl shafer has been promoted from seaman first class to petty officer carpenter's mate third class.
