By Chris Buckley a candidate in the midst of a november race for an at Large seat on the Ringgold school Board is now seeking a second separate at Large Post. And Jim Dodd May have secured the inside position for the two year seat with no opposition on the ballot. As a result of the primary election results from May Dodd is one of five candidates seeking three at Large four year terms on the school Board. Dodd along with Gail glane Man and incumbent Gene Kennedy won Republican nominations for the at Large seats while Kennedy and fellow Board Mem Bers Mariann Buiko and Jason Gerard won democratic party nominations. But Dodd is pursuing another two year at Large seat and he is claiming to have secured both party nominations. The school Board last month elected former Washington county District attorney Steve Toprani to serve on the Ringgold school Board. He filled the Post vacated with the resignation of director Chris Carroll last month. Although there were two years left on Carrolls term the seat will be contested on the ballot in november. The democratic and Republican parties Are required to choose candidates to run for the final two years of the seat. Dodd was chosen by the democratic committee members covering the seven communities in the school District during a july 18 meeting. Committee member Larry Mauro a longtime Ringgold director confirmed the selection and said one other unidentified candidate was considered. He declined to release the vote count.
