Talk Set FROM OtIR WIRE SERVICES WASHINGTON President Ei senhower flies to the Midwest Tuesday for the first major farm speech of his reelection cam paign Adlai E Stevenson chal lenged him in advance to spell out precisely what he has done to fulfill his 1952 farm pledges The President and Mrs Eisen hower were scheduled to depart from Washingtons National Air port Tuesday afternoon on a flight to Peoria 111 The Chief Executive will deliver his ad dress there at CST in the Bradley University Field House The 30minute speech will be broadcast and telecast by the Columbia Broadcasting System Purposes Of Trip The speech and visit to the Midwest will Provide the President a plat form for announcing any new ad ministration plans to raise farm income Include a presidential boost for the candidacy of Illinois Republi can Sen Everett Dirksen who is running for a new term agains State Sen Richard Stengel On the eve of the speech Ste venson speaking in Oklahoma City called on the President to tell us when he speaks at Peoria precisely what his adminis tration has done to fulfill its pledges to the American farmer 90 of Parity Stevenson maintained that in 1952 Eisenhower promised farm ers to continue price supports a 90 per cent of parity and late said he would work for full 101 per cent parity Yet said Steven son the administration has ful filled neither of these pledges bu has shown neglect and indiffer ence to the farmer White House Press Secretary James C Hagerty left no doub that Eisenhower would answer hi Democratic rival Hagerty sail Eisenhower would present th facts of the farm situation be cause they needed straighten ing The White House would no comment on a published report that Eisenhower might also sug gest in his speech a revised parity formula and new ways of dispos ing of farm surpluses In Arkansas Stevenson himself moved on to Little Rock rying his campaign to the South for the first fime There he reaf firmed his belief that the Supreme Court was right in ruling against segregation in the nations pub lic schools In an address delivered in Mac Arthur Park Stevenson thus ex pressed in substance the same views he set forth last month a few days before he won his partys presidential nomination He said Tuesday The Supreme Court of the United States has determined unanimously that the Constitution does not permit segregation in the schools As you know for I have made my position clear on this from the start I believe that decision to be right Some of you feel strongly to the contrary But what is most important is that we NATIONS N Y Egypt has come up with its own call for U N Security Council intervention in the Suez Canal dispute The Egyptian request will be taken up by the Council Wednes day along with an earlier British French demand for action Cairos move came late Mon day a day after Britain and France had asked the council to consider the situation created by Egypts July 26 nationalization of the waterway The 11nation councils first task will be to decide whether to de bate the complaints together or separately and if separately in what order The council is not ex pected to get down to the issues in Kefauver WASHINGTON UP Presiden Eisenhower Tuesday granted a request by Sen Estes Kefauver for periodic intelligence briefings on foreign affairs during the poli tical campaign The Democratic vice presiden tial nominee had asked the Presi dent to arrange the briefings in a telegram sent from Ephrata which reached the White House Monday Eisenhower asked the Central Intelligence Agency to provide Kefauver with briefings similar to those approved earlier for Ad lai E Stevenson the Democratic presidential nominee Kefauver said in his telegram he found it increasingly difficult in the course of week on bond pending appeal All 12 Aboard Air Force C47 Killed in Crash BUENA VISTA Colo 12 persons aboard an Air Force C47 were killed Monday when the craft plunged into the sheer north west edge of Mt Yale A joint ArmyAir Force team equipped with mules started an ascent to the level at dawn Tuesday to return the bjodies Among the victims who in cluded both civilians and military personel was a into a vast droughtbreaking rain storm as it moved slowly over south Georgia Tuesday after causing nine deaths and some property damage in its journey across the Gutf of Mexico and the Northwest Florida coast The once dangerous storm was reported centered just west of Albany in southwest Georgia with its top winds at 50 miles short of full gale force and only half the velocity reached before it moved inland Gusty winds of 25 to 35 miles an hour extended outward 300 to 350 miles north and east of tha center and 150 miles to the west Some Damage In its overland path from Fort Walton Beach to Dothan to Albany the storm ap parently did nothing worse in tha property damage line than to down some trees and power lines On the other hand its accom panying rainfall was breaking tha back of
