police that he had been the tool of others in the theft yesterday of 5512000 I in negotiable securities from his employers R V Hiscoe company V brokers The boy who had J by the brokerage house at a salary of a week said the robbery was directed by a man knownto him as Jack Rosen He said Rosen had stopped him repeatedly on the street and urged him to run away with securities The urging was repeated yesterday before the boy visited the Guaranty Trust com pany to redeem with a JJIOOOOO certified check stocks and bonds worth 5512000 which had been de posited as collateral on a loan Father Kansas and Oklahoma headed bj Gov Clyde M Reed of Kansas wlf arrive in Mason City Monday morn ing on a special train for the pur pose of making a study of agricu tural developments in this territory The tour is being made under thi combined auspices of the Milwaukee and the Missouri Kansas and Tex as railroads and includes severa points in Minnesota and Wisconsin Stops Monday Morning The train is scheduled to be at the Milwaukee station by 8 oclock Monday morning when the visitors will be met by a caravan of auto mobiles driven by local farmers and businessmen for a tour of the county The Geneva Confab GENEVA Sept 21 Robert Cecil today withdrew the British disarmament resolution re garding trained army reserves which has stirred league of nations debates this week and accepted a compromise proposal which he de clared accomplished the purpose of the British government Lord Cecils pressure in the gen eral scheme of disarmament has an tagonized the French press and pub lic and developed criticism to the disarmament movement inaugurat ed by the United States and Great Britain Lord Cecil stated the compromise proposal which was acceptable to iim leaves the door open for re the flames were first discovered on the first floor of the club County Prosecutor James Chenot announced his office not only would seek to place criminal responsibility for the fire but would hold to Employment of William B Shearer naval propagandist by American shipbuilders as an observer at the Geneva conference was describ ed as most unwise today to a sen ate investigating committee by Charles 0 Parker manager of the filling station Henry Sim mering who was having his gasoline tank refilled and Miss Doris Conklin 17 Parker and Simmering resided in St Ansgar while Miss Conldins Iiome was in Mitchell County officers and officials of the company were investi gating the explosion today but no one could establish a reason lor the blast HOOVER TURNS DOWN SINCLAIR CLEMENCY PLEA President Follows Rec ommendation of Cabinet Man President Hoover will not com mute the sentence of Harry F Sin clair or Henry Mason Day who are serving terms in the District of Columbia jail for contempt of court arising from the shadowing of the FallSinclair jury The was announced today at the white house where it was said Mr Hoover would follow the recom mendation of Attorney General Mitchell that the Mrs Simmering who had waited Iri the car fov her husband jumped from the machine at the sound of the blast and was burned on the face and arms She also received bruises caused by falling debris but will recover Heard AH Over Town The noise of the explosion was heard all over the town and resi dents came running to the scene from all directions and were horri fied to see the blazing ruins of the tilling station Debris was scattered in all directions property nearby was damaged and every window pane within a radius of a block in all directions The crowd ofwouldba rescuer firemen arid others was hesitant to approach near the flaming mass for fear the heat would cause the ex plosion of the two large gasoline tanks nearby With the flames finally extinguished however work men were able to approach the wreckage and search for the bodies they felt certain were there Parker Lived nn Hour Mr Parker was found alive amid the ruins and wag rushed to a doc tors office and later removed to his home where he died about 11 o clock scarcely an hour after the explosion He was In n semicon scious condition a part of the time Parker received two broken and a broken arm in addition to burns and other Injuries Searchers found the body of Mr Simmering a short time later He waa dead when found and is be lieved to have been killed instantly It was almost two hours before the body of Miss Doris Conklin xvas located and even then it was burner so that it could hardly be identified In fact It was soma time before her identity was positively estab lished Came to Town to ShopE It could not be determined here today how Miss Conklin happened to be in the vicinity of the oil sta tion It was stated here that sho had come to St Ansgar this morn ing with her father and mother to do some shopping The girl must have been walking the place at the moment of the blast persons here believe Several persons near the filling station had narrow escapes having passed the place only a moment be fore A B
