Advisers Accompany Him LITTLE ROCK Ark Gov Orval E Faubus and two consultants left by plane Friday for a Saturday conference with President Eisenhower to discuss the integration impasse The gubernatorial party was in a sixplace Aero Commander manned by a pilot and copilot The conference with the Presi dent at the vacation White House is scheduled for Saturday morn ing The Governor said that he was entirely in the hands of the pilot and added as the good Bap tists say God willing I will be back late Saturday night or Sun day Reporters asked him if he would have legal advisers witl him at the conference He saic he would not The only time I will need le gal advice is in court not in conference Faubus said He refused a barrage of ques tions concerning the conferenc itself White House Press Secretar James C Hagerty said it wa likely Faubus and his party woul spend the night in Providence R I They will be picked up b helicopter at Theodore Franci Green Airport near Providenc Saturday and flown to Newpor for the meeting Hagerty said Capt E P Aurand the Presi dents naval aide will meet the Arkansas Governor Hagerty said there was an al ternative plan to take Faubus to the meeting by automobile if bad weather interfered with the air lift One of the Governors aides1 said Faubus is not making the trip with the intention of capitu lating to federal wishes in the Central for return of LeRoy McHale 32 arrested at Jacksonville Fla after a nationwide search of over two years McHale escaped from the Cerro Gordo jail June 9 1955 where he was being held on armed robbery charges Sheriff Jerry Allen said he received word Thursday that FBI agents and officers of Du Vall County Fla made the arrest McHale was armed and driving a car stolen in New Mexico Car Theft The report to Allen came from Joseph Thornton of the Omaha FBI office McHale is in the custody of a US marshal in Florida and is charged with unlawful flight to escape prosecution and with taking a stolen vehicle across state lines Officers found two pistols in a briefcase beside McHales car a deputy sheriffs badge a special police badgea pair of handcuffs and a blackjack Pinned inside the fugitives jury The Legislative Investigating committee on July 3 accused Ar thur J Mogilner of Indianapolis and Virgil Red Smith of Milan Ind of conspiring to defraud the state of Iowa and asked Erbe to take such action as is war ranted Equipment Salesmen Mogilner has been identified as an equipment salesman Smith is a former chairman of the Indi ana Highway Department Both have been under indictment in connection with affairs of the In diana Highway Department Erbe and Hanrahans state ment followed a conference at the Statehouse Also attending were Donald Swanson assistant attorney general assigned to the Legislative Investigating Com mittee and Cloid Level first as sistant Polk County attorney The statement said On the basis of all testimony and information available from the Legislative Investigating Committee and its counsel in ref erence to conspiracy and brib ery sections of the Iowa law there is insufficient testimon and information to present this case to the grand jury Three to remind yoy a over again letter said but to all motorists because school again begins I want to prevent the tragedy that we have shared mother and you Mr Motorist That day three suntanned little The newspaper sent a reporter to investigate He talked with a close friend of the letter writer She told him the letter was written four years ago on the first anniversary of the tragedy It was writtenbut never intended to be mailed to the man who was driving the car The friend sent the letter to the paper which printed it Thursday The motorist He still sends the mother flowers on each anni versary of the childrens death And the mother She couldnt write a letter now For in her mind she still waves goodby to the smiling faces of her children The tragedy was too much She is in a mental P Rohlman 81 retired archbishop of the Roman Cath olic archdiocese of Dubuque died Friday in Xavier Hospital here where he had been a patient for two veeks The prelate one of the Mid wests most widely known churchmen had resigned be cause of health from the see of Dubuque in 1954 after serving as archbishop since November 1946 On his retirement he was named by Pope Pius XII to be archbishop of Cotrada a titular see and he was succeeded in Dubuque by Archbishop Leo Binz who had been his coadjutor with the right of succession since Jan 3 1950 Archbishop Rohlman had guid ed the Dubuque archdiocese in a program of postwar expansion climaxed by the dedication of a new seminary for training dioc esan priests Mount Saint Bern ard This Archbishop Rohlman considered his greatest work His years of leadership saw also the establishment of new parishes in Dubuque Cedar Rapids Waterloo and other areas and many other scholas tic and building program achievements He also estab lished Catholic student centers at Iowa State College Ames and Iowa Slate Teachers Cedar Falls Iowa Col BISHOP ROHLMAN One of his former secretaries he Most Rev James V Casey was installed as bishop of Lin coln Neb last week Archbishop Rohlman was born March 17 1876 in Germany and came with his parents Bernard and Bernardine Rohlman from Westphalia to the United States in 1879 He enrolled in St Lawrence College Mount Calvary Wis in 1891 and later attended what is now Loras College in Dubuque He was ordained a priest in 1901 and designated assistant pastor at a Dubuque church He studied at the Catholic University Washington DC did mission work in Montana and became pastor of St Marys Wa terloo Iowa in 1911 He headed the campaign to raise one mil lion dollars for Loras College and shortly
