cities in Iowa and there has been little or no easing of the situation since the close of the war 3 years ago according to the Iowa Real Estate Association A survey of cities showed new industrial construction and in creasing population further com plicated a previously acute situ ation There has been good pro gress in home construction but it cant keep up with the demand Few Projects A questionnaire sent to real es tate dealers in 14 of the states principal cities revealed there were few projects in the planning stage Recent price increases have halted plans for some additional con struction Purchase and rental values gen erally are still on the upward trend with some exceptions the replies reported Some said build ing costs are slowing up home The H C BROWN AGENCY FOR however is expected to tight en the situation again next year Both rental and sales values are increasing Inability of some pros pective buyers to meet payment requirements has slowed up home buying age school facilities of the neighborhood should be thor oughly investigated It has been estimated that prox imity to a good school adds as much as to the value of a home Inadequate schools adverse ly Engineer ing NewsRecord The survey which covered more than 50 cities 450 civil engineers contractors architects suppliers and others was conducted by the publications network of more than 80
