little granddaughtersat theair port One is 6 years old the other is 7 We had just helped both celebrate their birthdays while with usBoth were born in Ger many As youd guess they were accompanied by their parents The four are returning to Beirut following a twomonths vacation mostly in our home A few days after their arrival things started popping in a big way in that part of the world The fall of the Iraqi government trig gered the dispatch of our troops to Beirut Their landing was with in seeing distance of the familys apartment home overlooking his toric Pigeon Rock at the extreme end of the Mediterranean Because he is associated with a heavy construction concern Avhich is building a dam on a tributary of the Tigris River to the north and west of Baghdad in Iraq the father of these two won derfulgrandchildren and arent all grandchildren wonderful had to fly back to the Middle East three days after his arrival in Iowa AFTER CHECKING on the equipment and personnel involved in that Iraqi project this sonin law flew back to America again and Im glad to report was able to extend the family vacation by the two weeks consumed in this hasty return to what has been home for the Paul guages so far as those little gals age 6 were concerned It was I not they who chose the language They have a remark able speaking acquaintanceship with German French and Arabic as well as with English
