for discussion than the role of public opinion polls in the United States Cer tainly nothing very conclusive on the subject was developed by the 1960 election other per haps than that when an elec tion is close and public curiosity is highest the polls cant be of any help to you They tell you what you already know Toward the end of the cam paign by reading through the lines one could conclude that John F Kennedys chances were slightly brighter than those of Richard Nixon But the predic tions in most cases were hedged Talk about issues Voters get their way TORRI BENACO Italy UP The
