Press Staff Writer Voters of two counties each seek ing to pass its second primary road bond Idsue today wrote finis to the month of greatest road bond activity in the history of Iowa Black Hawk voting a proposal and Montgomery passing on a issue are the last of 17 counties to express their senti ments on primary road bonds this month Both approved larger issues in years passed Black Hawk a 51500000 issue in 1919 and Mont gomery a issue in 1927 Irrespective of the result of to days balloting however May 1929 will take rank as the greatest month for road financing since counties started voting bonds 10 years ago Already worth of bonds have been approved this by the high total for June 1927 the prev ious high month Montgomerys first 5600000 issue was included in the former high month which saw 13 counties placing their stamps of ap proval on road bonds Expect Counties Approval Approval of the bonds in Black Hawk and as is believed probable would bring the total for May to 516440000 It wouldbring the total for theyear to four counties having ap proved bonds totalling in April Eight of the counties voting in May approved their first bond is sues while all four of those voting in April passed original financing pro grams These 12 counties brot to 73 the number which have passed pri mary bonds 61 counties having passed totalling prior to Jan 1 1929 While May at present takes rank as the outstanding month for road bond financing June yet may ex ceed it Already eight counties have set June dates for the holding of bond elections on a total of 000 while an equal number of other counties have started talking bond elections arid may set June dates They have under consideration 350000 worth of bonds an amount which would be only less than the May total if todays bond elections carry There are enough other counties which may catch tfe bonding fever to lift the June total above the May figure provided of course the coming elections win as unanimous approval as have those held so far this year Nary a county so far hasturned down the bonds out of the 10 which have voted Veto First Time Five of the eight counties which vote in June have never passed roaI bonds altho nearly all have voted at some time or other Four of the eight counties which are talking bonds but have not yet set a defin ite date for voting will be making their first venture into primary road financing should they approve them The June voting will bring the total of bonds approved to 657 provided all eight counties pass their bonds Should tha eight which have bond elections considera tion also register approval the total of primary road bonds avail able for highway construction would be or 2V4 million dol lars in excess of the figure set for the state road bond measure which the state supreme court found unconstitutional In some quarters that action of the high court is given credit for the present enthusiasm for issuing road bonds Good roads boosters de clare that the counties got tired of waiting for the state to take the matter of road building into its hands and have assumed the respon sibility TREESE GIVEN JAIL SENTENCE Pleads Guilty to Charge of Concealing Mortgaged Property Gerald Treese of Belmoud entered a plea of guilty to a charge of con cealing mortgaged property and was sentenced Friday afternoon by Judge J J Clark to serve a term of Parks 25 year old boarderat the womans house Attorneys for the woman an nounced the insanity plans just as police learned she had been en gaged in liquor transactions as well as insurance plots Solicitor General Charles Garrctt said he had a perfect case againit the woman and Manchester to pru sent to a special session of the grand jury which has been called next Tuesday In addition to complicity in the murder of Parks whom police said she lured to her rooming house by a newspaper advertisement for a young man desiring a home offi cers said they had unearthed other various instances where she had in sured young men roomers in her home Manchester confessed he shot Parks to death at the insistence of Mra who he said promised horn after she had collected on a double policy she held on Parks life Police learned of at least oue other yoUng man besides Park who had been insured bythe widow with herself named as beneficiary Lutheran Pastor Is Speaker at Rockwell Memorial Day Rites ROCKWELL May ary Memorial day exercises were held at the Rockwell cemetery Thursday forenoon attended by a large concourse of citizens from this locality A brief and patriotic address was made by the
