Named CITY March vin W Ellis president of the HartParr company here has been elected president of the new Olive Farm Equipment company which resulted from the merger of the local plant with the Oliver Chillec Plow works at South Bend Ind and the Nichols and Shepard com pany of Battle Creek Mich This announcement was mad here today by Dave Darrah adver tislng manager of the HartParr after he had received word fron meetings of the three companies stockholders now in session in their respective cities Will Leave Charles City i This necessitates Mr Ellis re moval from Charles City where he hasbeen long identified with the HartParr company and other in terests since the main office of the new company will be J seated else Mr unable to where the office of the Oliver TfflJL r 1 believedthat It would be Chicago orSouth Bend the latter place being the location of the Oliver Plow works The threecornered merger brings under one direction three of the largest producing plants of farm implements and results in an organ isation with a capitalization of 000000 which places it fourth in size in the Industry All of the three plants will con tinue to be operated as they have before the only difference being that the finance and sales organ izations will be coordinated under one management Still Slakes Tractors The HartParr company will still manufacture its famed tractors at the plant here the plow company will atill turn out plows at South Bend and the Nichols and Shepard company will continue to manufac ture accessory farm implement and tools as has been done in the past The stockholders of the three com panies meeting in their respective cities this morning ratified the merger plans as prepared by the officers of the companies and the merger is now a completed tact Mr Darrah said The next step is the election of the other officers and board of di done in New York J E Wichman Garner Former State Senator Is Dead at Rochester Hoover Greets State Secretary Sudden Death of Prominent Attorney Follows Operation pARNER March E Wich VJ man 69 former state senator and Garner lawyer since 1880 died at 9 oclock last night at the Colon ial hospital Rochester Minn Death followed an operation at the Mayo clinic two weeks ago Mr Wichman Became seriousl ill Feb 26 and was immediately token to a Mason City hospital Hi soninlaw Dr Leslie Fenlon Chn ton was called and had him re moved to the Rochester hospital Mrs Wichman has been in Roches ter with her husband almost con stantly since his removal there Fol lowing the operation Mr Wichman seemed to be improving but Tuesday night his condition became serious and his family and his law partner I C Hasting were called to the bed side Mr Wichman was born In Ga lena 111 and attended the Galena Normal school there He taught for several years in the rural schools of Hancock county He read law in the office of H H Bush in Garner and was admitted to the bar in His father was a German im migrant of 1848 and Mr Wichman
