The Finnish Seamens Union an nounced Wednesday the crew of the tanker Aruba will strike rather than sail the ship and its cargo of jet fuel to Communist China The union said as a result of Nationalist Chinese threats and the ban on strategic mate rials to the Chinese Beds the ship finds itself in danger of get ting involved in actions of It called on the tankers Fin nish owners to direct the ship to safer The union an nouncement said the crew has refused to sail beyond Singapore The Eastbound tanker is be lieved to be somewhere in the Indian Ocean Finnish shipping circles sug gested the owners the ReBe Shipping might divert the Aruba to Indonesia for reloading of the cargo on to other Chinadestined ships A spokesman for the shipping company said no action could be taken yet to divert the ship be cause no strike warning had been received from the crew The Aruba picked up its load of jet fuel from the Romanian port of Constanza on the Black Sea men launched a series of protests When it first in come tax approach to the state revenue problems went on the House calendar Wednesday in the form of an omnibus bill The House Tax Revision Com mittee brought out a onepackagi measure combining provisions o several bills introduced by individ uals The measure would 1 Require every person filing an Individual state income tax return to pay a S3 filing fee whether he owned any tax or not Reduce Exemptions 2 Reduce personal exemptions from the present to for an individual and from the present to for a married couple 3 Require a single person to file return if his net income after paying federal income tax is or more Presently only person with a net income of or more must file 4 Require a man and wife to file a return if thejr net income after federal income tax is Pres ently a couple must file only il net income is or more 5 Rquire every corporation fil ing a return to pay a filing fee 6 Require indivHuds to pay all of their tax when filing their re turns if the tax is S50 or less Pres ently persons owing more than S10 may pay it in two equal install ments Committee members estimated the bill would raise more than five million dollars a year in extra rev enue Various Stages Several other alternatives de signed to meet the states need for more revenue are in various stages in the House and Senate The Senate has passed a bill to Increase the sales and use taxes from two to three per cent each and exempt certain staple foods from any sales tax The House has passed a bill to impose the sales tax on gross receipts of bowling al leys Pending in the House is a mcas ure to extend the sales tax to about 50 types of services including newspaper magazine radio and television advertising Also await ing action in the House is a bill to apply the sales tax to sales of
