satellite hook up NASA official You aint seen nothing yet By HOWARD BENEDICT AP Aerospace Writer HOUSTON Tex AP A space agency official com menting on the remarkable flight of Gemini 4 said You aint seen nothing yet He was looking lo future US maninspace flights which will be launched on an accelerated schedule as a result of the suc cess of astronauts James AMc Divitt and Edward H White II Gemini spacecraft will hook up with other satellitesthe pi lots will perform intricate ma neuvers during trips up to two weeks and men will walk and work outside their orbiting spacecraft for longer periods ithan the excursion made by White Then on to the only three years from now and mans greatest adventure Even as McDivitt and White McDivitts parents anxious for reunion with spaceman were being hoisted from the Atlantic Ocean Monday after Iheir fourday trip the Titan 2 rocket for Gemini 5 was being erected at Cape Kennedy The crew will b6 veteran As tronaut L Gordon Cooper Jr whose American space flight record was shattered by Gemini 4 and rookie pilot Charles Conrad Jr They have a late August date with the stars Cooper and Conrad are to stay in space for seven days but space agency officials hinted they could be up for a longer JACKSON Mich AP There was excited talk about their son flying to the moon some day but the parents of space pilot James A McDivitt were more interested Tuesday in plans to join him in Houston Theastronauts fatherJames A McDivitt Sr said the family may be able to leave Wednes day to see their son Astronaut McDivilt will need a couple of days first to report to space agency officials And President Johnson has invited him and his fellow Gemini 4 rid er Edward H White II down to the ranch for the weekend Its been a tense four days but its been the most beautiful four days in my entire life said Margaret McDivitt the astronauts mother With their vigil over the sen ior McDivitt he intended to begin work on a high stack of letters Many he said were from old friends he had not heard from in a long time cise schedule with a stretch cord apparently helped McDi vitt and White to overcome any aftereffects of weightlessness Berry also listed the buildup of heal in a spacecraft as anoth er toppled straw man He said a steady temperature of around 65 degrees with no hu midity was maintained throughout the flight The physician said White ex perienced no dizziness during his space walk as the Russian Alexei Leonov reported on his March 18 stroll Gemini project director Charles Mathews called Gemini 4 a milestone and now were looking and White indi cates that weve knocked down a lot of straw men with this mission He said that weightlessness apparently is not as dangerous as was feared at least not for four days Cooper had shown et aims MOSCOW The Soviet Union launched a rocket toward the moon Tuesday in what ap peared lo be its second try in a month to make historys first sofl landing on the lunar sur face The Russians first tested their softlanding system in Luna 5 which crashed on the moon May 12 But they said at the time that the flight had collect ed valuable data for further at tempts Luna 6 launch appeared to be the next try at a soft lunar landing a key tcp toward put ting a man on the moon The announcement of the jcket moon launch by Tass the official So viet news agency made no men tion of plans to test a landing system The original announcement of the Luna 5 launch did not men tion such plans either But later the Russians announced that an easy landing on the moon would be attempted Previously they had waited until they had re sults and then said everything went according to plan A return to the earlier pat tern of waiting for results was thought likely with Luna 6 The official announcement called Luna 6 ah automatic sta tion the term the Russians normally use to describe an un manned space craft The launch came a month aft er Luna 5 rocketed into space on May 9 and less than a day after the American Gemini spacecraft returned safely Tass said the flight would con tinue about three and a half days and was proceeding on a trajectory close to the planned route It said Luna 6 like Luna 5 was launched by a multistage rocket The last stage of the rocket was put into orbit around the earth and then launched the automatic space station on its flight to the moon Tass said Senate approves aid measure vessel systems as did Soviet cosmonaut Valcry Bykovsky after his record fiveday space trip Berry said that a rigid cxcr Johnsons request for an added million in the foreign aid bill to start a new economic devel opment program for Southeast Asia Tuesday the Senate considers a significant amendment which would channel much of the mili tary assistance to LatinAmeri can countries through the Or ganization of American States The amendment was prepared by Sen J W Fulbright DArk The Senate rejected 45 to 22 an amendment by Sen Wayne chairman of the Foreign Rela tions Committee
