Motor Co offer to set up a 55 million dollar trust fund for supplemental unemployment bene fits and proposed to negotiate dif ferences on the method of paying it The union said still at issue are the level and duration of pay ments which constitute a type oi guaranteed annual wage The company offer would pay 5 cents an hour per employe for the first year 6 cents for the sec ond year and 7 cents for the third year The contract would run for three years Letter to Ford The arbitration proposal was made to Ford in a letter from UAW President Walter P Reuther to company President Henry Ford H Reuther proposed that the guar anteed annual wage issue be set aside in the present negotiations under an agreement that after other contract issues are settled the union and company will ne gotiate for 30 days in terms for spending the proposed 55 million dollar supplemental jobless pay fund The union proposed that if agree ment on spending the fund could not be reached in 30 days the mat ter then would go to arbitration Stt Aside The union thus proposed that the guaranteed wage issue be set aside for the time being and that negotiators strive for agreement on contract issues with the jobless pay plan to be decided upon later either in negotiations or through arbitration Both the union and the com Reuther wrote Ford share a heavy moral obligation in these negotiations There was no twister struck in an area of two and onehalf miles northeast of Ti tonka about 5 p m Friday and did considerable damage to barns and other buildings in a short time About an inch of rain fell be fore and past associates at the university Dodd Faces Penalty in Shootings Newton Case Is Studied NEWTON UP Thomas Dodd 29 Illinois State Prison parolee Saturday was charged with assault with intent to com mit murder after a wild shooting spree in which three persons were wounded Jasper County Atty Dale Swan son said Dodd was charged only with the shoting of Gloria Fox 28 a waitress at the Happy Corner Tavern which Dodd allegedly leld up early Thursday morning Hospital authorities said she was in good condition Swanson said he will wait for further reports on the conditions of the other two persons police man Charles Hutchins 29 and tavern operator Elmer Comstock 49 before filing further charges Comstock remained in critical condition at Skiff Hospital with bullet wounds in the abdomen Wooded Dodd was arrested as he hid in a wooded area at Des Moines Fri day and returned here for ques tioning Two other victims of the shoot ing spree early Friday identified Dodd as the gunman when he was brought into their hospital rooms They are Policeman Charles Hutchins 29 and Gloria Fox 28 a waitress in the Happy Corner tavern operated by Comstock Their conditions were serious1 and respectively
