rests promised continued pick eting of white Tues day and began a drive to inte grate Selma schools Dr Martin Luther King Jr announced a massive Southwide voter registration campaign designed to double the number of Negro voters within weeks after the expected passage of a new federal voting law King an unscheduled visit to Selma Monday night to add his voice to the chorus of protests over the arrests of 32 Negro pickets carrying boycott signs in downtown Selma The arrests Monday brought to 132 the number taken into custody since Saturday A Selma Negro leader the Rev L L Anderson told cheer ing followers at a mass meeting Monday night shortly before King spoke that commencing tomorrow we are going to fill the streets up He said Negro demonstrators would sleep there eat there and have church there He said the dayandnight vigil this time would take place in the streets in West Selma where the white business people live King made no mention of spe cific plans for renewed demon Tuesday to the onemanonevote rule it adopted last year but prodded state authorities and lower courts to work out the process for themselves The high court 1 Declined to interfere with the order of a three judge court for a special election of the New York Leg islature next fall under a redistricting plan adopted by a lameduck Republicandominated legislature The terms of those elected are to run HAROLD R WILLIAMS AP Aerospace Writer HOUSTON AP What can experienced space travelers tell two rookies Astronauts Virgil I Grissom and John W Young the first manned Gemini mission crew jelieve they can make the four day flight James A McDivitt and Edward H White II are to start Thursday a bit easier I plan to sit down with them and talk it over he said Gris som is the only man to have flown in space twice Young said he had written 50to 60page report on persona observations made while he and Grissom orbited the earth three times during the first manned Gemini flight March 23 They are free to take the report any way they want to said Young but to try to help those guys to minimize any new typeexperience for them well theyre going to have to live in that baby four days Its going to be a tough mission Young says he will tell Mc Divitt and White not to be shocked when the sheet of fire closes around the spacecraft after the firststage engine shuts down and the secondstage en gine starts It was a surprise for me Young said You get this flash of light what we call fire in the hole Its instantaneous Its like all of a sudden you see it anc then you dont You dont have ime to even think about it Gus knew about it so it didnt sur prise him Young said the fourday mis sion would be the proof of the Dudding as far as the spacecraft s concerned I dont think theres anything the man has to do in the four days that he cant do but it will YOUNG GRISSOM be a good systems test he said A really good systems test for extended mission opera tion for Gemini A big surprise the jolt that comes when the landingpara chute system changes from a onepoint suspension to two points wont be a shock to Mc Divitt and White They will be ready for it which was more than Grissom and Young were My for a stay of the lower courts order for a New York election dissented from the finding of the full court criticizing what he called the tribunals casual way of dis posing of this matter In the California case Harlan wrote an opinion concurring reluctantly in the finding and was joined by Justices Tom C Clark and Potter Stewart It was noted without further comment that Harlan concurred in
