state health authori ties In regard to the typhoid epi demic among the J K Gabby bridge gang have been received one went to C P GoplerUd county en gineer and was in regard to wa ter The well on the Earl Squler acre age was condemned and It was rec ommended that water out of the well on the W E Seeber farm bo used sparingly altho the well itself was not condemned County Supervisor Charles Mlll ington also received a report in jvtASON cny iiLOBEiiAzKTtw which a number of probable causes for the epidemic were listed The Osage disposal plant was given as a probable cause altho the report said the method of disposing of sewage was satisfactory so lar as It went It isthot that seepage from the dis posal plant may have entered the wells from Sugar creek during high water The report added that refuse from the Hormel plant at Austin does not carry typhoid germs but that nevertheless it should be treat ed better than it is now Water from the Cedar river tested none too pure Emilio Gaicia herd o 14 Guernseys all milking and aver aging 911 pounds of milk and 35 pounds of butterfat a cow Fou cows in the herd made more than pounds of butterfat Perry and Gorball Forest City and K IT Knutson Forest Citj both had the same average butter fat production a cow 312 pounds Three hundred ninety cows wer tested according to Fred Spragg tester in 26 herds and 26 of thes cows were dry The association av erage was 771 pounds milk and 2G1 pounds butterfat for each of the 390 cows The high cow made 63C pounds fat Five were culled and sold for beef Every herd is headet by a purebred sire Officers and 14 Men Set to Work Preparing Camp CAMP DODGE Des Moines July 29 the way for tho annual field training of the Infantry and cavalry regiments of the Iowa National guard two officersand 14 men of the quartermasters detach ment of the state staff went to work today to have the camp reedy for next Sundays invasion The matter of stocking up on food and supplies for two regiments of infantry and one regiment of cavalry will keep the fourteen busy all week and meantime on Wed nesday or Thursday advance de tachments to set the camp buildings and grounds in order will arrive to take up their duties These detach ments also will act as clearu1 squads upon completion of the fif teen day Aug 18 Detachments Listed The advance and rear detach ments are to be made up as follows One ambulance companies will report for duty next Sunday Iowa City Is Chosen as Headquarters for American Air Cadets IOWA CITY July 29 American Air Cadets national boys aeronautical organization has moved its headquarters here from New York City because of the more central location and tho desire for a situation on the transcontinental air line H Wishart national or ganizer wilt assist In forming a club in Iowa City Officers will be elected and the youths will direct their own business air shows tournaments races and model aircraft building contests The first tournament will be held the first week in September fea turing indoor and outdoor races for all classes SECOND FLOOR FIVE Rites for Tom Logue Are Held at Fertile FERTILE July 28 Funeral services for Tom Logue who died here at the home of his daughter Mrs Edwin Phillips Friday morn ing at the age of 70 years wer held Sunday at the Christian church Burial was in Lincoln cemetery Pic suffered a stroke in March and had been gradually
