Mason City Globe-Gazette (Newspaper) - July 13, 1963, Mason City, Iowa 3 killed in separate North Iowa accidents Three lives were claimed in separate accidents on North Iowa highways Friday night and early Saturday morning The dead were Mrs Donnie Shirley Ann Kunzman 20 loute 1 Rockwell Dennis Leo Hiller 21 rural Ionia Mrs Clarence Spinier 41 Marshall own Mrs Kunzman died in a Ma DEATH Highway patrolman Kunzman 20 was killed Three other Dale Hoover inspects the wreckage of a persons in the car were injured car in which Mrs Donnie Shirley Ann SIX INJURED A Carpentersviile 111 family of six WRIGHT GlobeGazette Staff Writer Construction Mason Citys Holiday Inii known as Inn Inc is expected to get next week according to Fritzsche Burlington executive vice president of the firm and vice president of Carl A Nelson Co Burlington the builder All arrangements for the purchase of the land from the Mason City Brick Tile inter ests have been completed and we expect to start moving dirt in three or four days said Fritzsche We are still planning on a December completion date weather permitting William Bowman Jr Jefferson City Mo president of the Motor Inn organization was in Mason City Friday to complete nego tiations for the land With him was his attorney Ed Wayland Columbia Mo Their plane was grounded at Des Moines and they completed the trip by car arriving in Mason City late in the day A C Frisk president of the Mason City Brick Tile Co acted for the company in the sale of the land Hadley Florer Mason City realtor promoted the transaction Fritzsche acting for the Carl A Nelson Co which holds the building contract received a building permit late Friday at the City Hall The permit for general construction of the building exclusive of heating wiring and plumbing as welt as land pool service station and driveways was for Subcontracts and furnishings for the Mason City Motor Inn Inc and the building itself will exceed one million dollars in cost according to Fritzsche Although Carl A Nelson Co has the general contract as much of Mason City labor and materials as can be used will go into the structure ac cording to Fritzsche Carl Folker Burlington su perintendent of the Mason City project has already arrived and is lining up equipment for the starting operations The motel consisting of 100 nnits commercial building res taurant banquet room for 500 cocktail lounge coffee shop sta tion will be constructed on acres at2M 4th SW west of Super Mar ket on Highway 18 The 100 guest units will be of twostory construction built in an L shape One block of units on the east side extending north and south will consist of 58 units the connecting block extending east and west will consist of 42 units The east wing will be 50 by 218 feet the west wing will be 50 by 140 feet The commercial building which will face on 4th Street SW will be 50 by 174 feet plus a 40 by 65 foot wing There will be parking facilities for 198 cars Mason Citys Holiday Inn wil son City
