midsummer busi ness upturn In testimony delivered before the Joint Congressional Economic Committee AFLCIO chief economist Stanley H Ruttenberg also charged the administration with ignoring reality Ruttenberg said at a time when the nations problems require honest reporting and hardheaded solutions the prospect of next Novembers election returns seems to have directed the administra to lull the Thomas reduced Matthew C McKeons general court martial sentence for leading the Parris Island S C death march the Marine exdrill instructor vowed Ill try to be the very best private in the Marine Corps That was in late 1956 several months after the April 8 night march Recruit Platoon 71into tidal stream where six recruits drowned Pfc McKeon appears on way toward realizing his vow He has been named the Jan uary Marine of the Month by the AllWeather Fighter Squadron 114 of which he is a member The courtmartial sentenced McKeon to re duction from staff sergeant to private a bad conduct widower and was living with his parents Mr and Mrs Ole Haisne on a farm between Clear Lake and Hanlon town were definitely linked to Stark weather A car which had belonged to Robert Jensen 17 Bennet Neb one of the six previous slaying victims was found at the Ward residence Starkweather was be lieved to have fled in Jensens car One of the two women slain a 16yearold girl had been subject ed to an
