per cent in first decline since August Lower prices for food automo biles and clothing overbalanced increases in rents other housing items medical care and other consumer costs The Bureau of Labor Statistics price index declined to per cent of the 194749 average the base In reporting this the bureau noted the index stood per cent higherthan December 1957 THE DECEMBER index exactly the same as that of last September and last June Some workers whose pay rates are geared to quarter and semiannual adjustments o the index consequently will re ceive no change in pay The index for November ha climbed twotenths of one pe cent to equal to the recor high of July This meant that i o buy the same item that cost in 1949 Earnings of the average faclori to ali time highs last month at a week for a religious organizations to sponsor bingo games was introduced in Iowa Senate Friday Howard C Buck filed bill for the approval of the General Assembly so that the constitutional amendment may be
