France un Dar ing helicopter pilots Thursday snatched eight marooned alpinists from the snowswept slopes of Mt Blanc but gave up hope for two more frostbitten climbers ma rooned on Europes highest peak for 12 days The rescue pilots had hoped to hover above the Jean Vincendon 23 and Belgian Francois Henry lower men down to put them in baskets hanging from the aircraft but this proved impossible States Russia Franee and India sit down to gether to seek ways to bring about disarment In Moscow the Embassy aid Thursday that Eisenhowers was delivered to the Soviet Foreign Office Wednesday The British and French embassies de ivered similar replies All agreed that further disarmament propos als should be taken up in session at CST Saturday to outline the Ei senhower doctrine for blocking Soviet aggression in the Middle East Time of the Presidents speech was officially fixed when the House unanimously adopted a res olution sponsored by Democratic Leader John W McCormack Mass providing for the joint session with the Senate The House then agreed to adjourn un til Saturday after the close of Thursdays business Eisenhower is expected to ask Congress for standby authority to use U S Authorize the spending of 400 million dollars in economic aid to the Middle East over a period of two years beginning next July l Storm Lake Couple Die of Asphyxiation HALLTOWN Mo UP An elderly couple from Storm Lake Iowa Mr and Mrs Linus John son both about 65 died of ac cidental suffocation in a hotel iiere Wednesday Lawrence County authorities said the couple was enroute from Iowa to Florida on vacation Their bodies were found by the hotel manager after they failed Lo appear for breakfast Author ities blamed faulty heating for allowing gas fumes into the room In his reply Eisenhower wel comed Bulganins apparent wil ingness to consider even a lim ited form of the aerial inspection which this country has been urg ing since Eisenhower first pro posed it at the 1955 Geneva Sum mit future date saying I could agree to a meet ing whenever circumstances would make it seem likely to ac complish a significant Aerial Inspection The President wrote Bulgania that he takes hope from your apparent willingness to consider arcial inspection as a positive fac tor in the problem of arma This was a reference to a Russian statement issued along with the Nov 17 Bulganin letter in which the Soviet leader broached the idea of creating an aerial inspection buffer zone ex tending 500 miles on either side of the iron curtain However Eisenhower said that much to my regret the Russian statement does not signify wil lingness to seek agreement on basic element of my Geneva pro posal of averting surprise attack through aerial inspection of the centers of our military All along the United States has taken the position that a disarma ment agreement would be worth less unless it was buttressed with a foolproof inspection system de signed to prevent cheating In with this basic position Eisen hower in 1955 suggested that United Slates and Russia ex change military blueprints and agree to permit unhampered aer ial inspection of military lations Democratic senator again chose
