of a community building for Clear Lake led by the President A N An derson featured at the Commercial club board of directors and commit tees meeting held at Silsbys restau rant Monday evening The session was tho first since the election of offi ce rs In addressing the group air An derson said Clear Lake needs a good Commer cial club more than tho ordinary town of this size on account of tho natural resources and that we as a commun ity have not played up our city to the extent that wo should have been do ing It is tho duty of every citizen oC Clear Lake to boost for our city What helps one helps all to a greater j or lesser extent The first great need is the necessity of a community build Ing one with an auditorium larse enough to ac com mo date about 1000 persons 37 Groups Jlet In looking over reports of tfie Fort Dodge Chamber of Commerce for last year I find that they entertained in their community building 37 different local group meetings of their own so cieties and organizations and ID state conventions These 10 conventions were attended by 17010 delegates Fort Dodge estimates that on a con servative estimate each guest spent at least a day Twenty per cent pro fit would not overestimate a gain Of 54000 to the Fort Dodge merchants hotels eating houses etc This year we have appointed on our railway and convention commit tee several traveling passenger agents as well as some of higher rank We have had some wonderful pledges of assistance and cooperation and I am in hopes that our railway and conven tion committee will call on them to show their loyalty to our beautiful city and lake I would urge with all the power that I can command that when the budget for this year is arranged and the finance committee goes out for funds that a generous portion will be Martha Washington Tea Proceeds Used by Church of Christ CLEAR LAKE Feb Martha Washington tea to which the public as well as the Christian Workers have been invited will be held at the homo of Mrs O treasury alotted to a fund for a community building that fund to be invested in safe bonds and allowed to accumulate until we are able to have a place wherein to take care of the gatherings that we are entitled to have Favors Entertainment As to tho band in any event whether full time or a part time band is arranged for this year it would be advisable to have printed weekly pro grams letting our people advcrtlso on these which should at least pay the cost I would be strong for a Httlo extra entertainment between times if it could be procured at no great et use ot our own talent wherever possible with songs between band numbers certain evenings I be lieve the change from straight all band music to a few extra numbers such as these would bo appreciated Mr Anderson appointed H Bailey ts
