0 P Race By GEORGE MILLS Iowa Daily Press Bureau DES Clark Des Moines attorney is preparing to jump into the republican primar ies to battle Senator L J Dickin son for the G O P senatorial nom ination according to reports from authoritative sources Clark who was a candidate for senator in the 1926 primaries would neither confirm nor deny the report here Saturday He was in the 1926 race against former Senators Smith W Brookhart and A B Cummins but withdrew Brookhart was nom inated and later elected Senator Dickinsons nomination papers are in circulation while Dr George Chancy also of Des Moines already has announced his candi dacy for the senatorship Four Out of Six If Clark enters the fray and if Congressman Hubert Utterbacks announcement for the democratic nomination for United States sen ator is made next week as expected the city of Des Moines will have four of the six aspirants in the field hattling for the position In addition to Clark and Chaney Gov Clyde L Herring who has an nounced his senatorial candidacy and Utterback are residents of the capital city Senator Dickinson is from Algona and Samuel D Whit ing s third candidate for the demo cratic nomination for senator lives in Iowa City Hammill and Brookhart While no announcement has been made one way or the other reports here have it that former Gov John Hammill will not run for senator Former Senator Brookhart contin ues to puzzle most observers Some times he is heard of as a candidate for senator at other times as a can didate for governor and finally that he will not figure in the Iowa political picture at all this year Reports that Floyd Page of Deni son who directed the liquor investi gation during the last session of the legislature would be a candidate for attorney general on the
