TUTELBOURNE erally speaking the people of Australia are being well served by their daily newspapers Quite understandably this has been a subject of interest for me in each of the countries visited by me on this jaunt around the world and the conclusion here stated is based on a rather critical scru tiny In contrast with our own coun try morning papers are more nu merous than evening papers The situation here in Melbourne is rather typical Theres an after noon Herald and three morning sheets the Age the Argus and the S u si News The last named is affili ated with the Herald In the Herald S u n company Australia has something simi 1 a r to the W EARL HALL Hearst press in America It has morning and afternoon papers in Adelaide and Brisbane Moreover it owns the newlyestablished Melbourne TV HSV7 a n d a principal radio station here 3DB TV Is Novelty Radio is well entrenched in this part of Australia but TV is some thing new In fact its still a nov elty at about the same stage TV reached in the United States around 1950 Taverns advertise their receiving sets on their front windows and huge crowds gather before stores where a TV pro gram is being screened Mel bournes receiving sets are
