brake men Thursday won a a day wage boost on the heels of a cent an hour increase granted about nonoperating railroad employes Railroad labor peace was still threatened however by a threat of a strikeat midnight by members of the Transport Workers Union against the Pennsylvania Railroad in a dispute over wages shift differentials severance pay and a 30hour work week Hourly The raise for members of the Order of Railway Conductors and Brakemen was retroactive to Oct l It included a KM cent an hour increase plus a 2 per cent differ ential adjustment The two amount to a day Four cents of the total is inlieu of a health and welfare plan a railroad spokesman said The 14 Vi cent increase won by nonoperating employes Wednesday night was the same as recom mended by a presidential emer gency board Dec 12 a railroad spokesman said The wage boost was retroactive to Dec 1 Pay Scale The new pay scale for the non operating employes boosts the av erage to an hour The agreement stipulates that the carriers will bear the entire cost of a hospital and medical plan be ginning next March 1 At present the railroads and nonoperating em ployes split the cost of these pay ments The companies will pay up to a month per employe for hospital and medical protection The nonoperating unions em brace telegraphers clerks and others engaged in work other than actually operating trains PLANE FOUND DULUTH Minn Roy al Canadian Air Force revealed Thursday that it had found a mis sing C45 U S Air Force plane near Graham and all three men aboard were alive TRUCKER KILLED IN truck Wednesday was demolished when it ran broadside in the side of a Minneapolis and St Louis switch engine south of Belmond killing the driver Kenneth Hennigar Clarion The 22ton engine was shoved off the tracks but the
