Englebright reelected to the house of repre November from the second district ornia and of M Alfred Michaelson who was beaten for congress in November in the Seventh Illinois district but is serving out the fag end of the term lie won two years ago Englebrights district had 129457 inhabitants when thev1920 census was taken Perhaps it has a few more now but certainly nofmany being in the thinlysettled north eastern corner of the Siskiyou Mt Lassen grizzly bear country The 1920 census population total for Michaelsons district was 560 434 and it is a safe bet that 1930s will be organizers of the Ameri can Legion has suggested action to prevent the visit to California of the famed German mathematician The suggestion offered Wfore Los Angeles Legionnaires last night brot forth mingled applause and expres sions of disfavor but no action The attack Dr Houghton said was based on expressions attributed to Dr Einstein in a recent New York speech who was quoted as urging men of Dec 17 Congress plunged today into an effort for immediate enactment of relief legislation Republican Leader Watson In formed the senate all plans for a Christmas recess were abandoned pending forwarding of the emer gency construction and drought loan bills to President Hoover The senate was working on the report adjusting differences between it and the house on the 116000000 public works measure The house had before it the drought legislp tion other matters being shoved aside Cut Senate Figure Only a while before the house agriculture had cut the senate 560000000 figure in half and yesterday in her country school room near here WASHINGTON Dec 17 An immediate to the su preme court from the decision by Judge Clark in New Jersey yester day declaring the eighteenth amendment invalid will be taken The decision was reached at the iustice department today after con ferences between Attorney General Mitchell Assistant Attorney Gen eral Youngquistin charge of pro hibition Philip Forman United States attorney at Newark Howard T Jones assistant prohibition di rector and other officials At Tremor Time The justice department announ ced that at the proper time the supreme court
