Accident Bakken Died at P M By Tht Associated Prcsi Iowas hopes of a fatalityfree highway record on Safe Driving day were dashed at only a half hour to a car skidded on ice near Northwood Eldrin R Bakken 24 of near Northwood was killed Iowa safety officials regarded the day as a success however and noted that on Dec 15 a year ago there were six highway deaths in Iowa Only about 50 accidents 105 Bakken the victim suffered a skull fracture when the car driven by Wolff went out of control after hitting an icy spot at a curve in the highway went off the road rolled over and me to rest on its wheels in a cornfield Both Bakken and Wolff were thrown out of the car Bakken died on the way to a doctors office at Northwood Wolff suffered cuts above the left eye the left ear and the left cheek bone He was treated by a Northwood doctor and was not hospitalized The young men were on their way to Northwood when the acci dent occurred in the car which Wolff had purchased only recently It was practically demolished ac cording to Sheriff A J Conner who investigated the accident Inqutft Slattd The sheriff said that an inquest into the accident would probably be called by Coroner Robert Bride
