of 1958 By CY DOUGLASS DES M01NES Jet Iowa turned a sharp political corner in 1958 giving Democratic Herschcl Loveless a second term as governor and providing him with a Jot of Democrats for company on Capitol Hill and in other state government high spots This the sharpeyed news editors of Iowa Associated Press newspapers radio and television stations voted top state story of the year giving it 425 voles Loveless first Democrat to do so since the 1930s won re election by more than voles Nov 4 pacing a Demo cratic victory in Iowa which in cluded the elcclion of Ed Me Manus Keokuk as lieutenant governor in succession lo in cumbent Republican William Nicholas Ihe election of two Democratic commerce commis sioners two slate Supreme Court justices and four of the states eight members of the national House of Representa tives The Democrats also sharply increased their strength in both houses of the Iowa legislature defeating some of the wheels of recent sessions The story ranked No
